Igor may not be a super GM but he sure is one of the best chess teachers of our time. You probably can't be both one of the best players and one of the best teachers at the same time, I'm glad he chose the latter. Thank you for your high quality content, your videos always make my day!

@@GMIgorSmirnov You deserve all the praise Igor. Your work is much appreciated! While I've got your attention, would you be the right person to turn to if I'm looking for private online chess lessons? Not necessarily you personally (you probably either don't have time for that or I don't have the money to afford you) but someone you know. I'm currently ~1600 daily and ~1100 blitz (I'm apparently not thinking fast enough for blitz) and my goal is to be 2000 classical.

9:17 why not Qween to f3? The knight can't go to f6 because of the pwan and we are threatening to checkmate in the next move! if black Qween comes to e7 then I can simply grab that knight!

It's really good tactics for Blitz and bullet games. But neither one of this will work playing classical and rapid .nowdays Even 700 elo players are highly aware about this traps..if they got some time to think about next 2or 3 moves. Every time you will be failed with all 6 moves ideas. But it is good for 3 minute or 1 minute games. Because opponents overlook the possibilities of quick mates..to maintain the time advantage.

0:51 what if they play f6 in this position?
@peterbago4574
@peterbago4574 Жыл бұрын
@JK-srsly Yes, you move the knight back, but not much is lost. You lose a tempo, but f6 is not ideal, it blocks the knight and opens an unwanted diagonal.

This is what the computer tries to do on chess on the macbook, every single time. I would call that cheating on the computers part, because playing the computer should be more like playing a low level human player, not like playing against a professional who knows how to win from any point.

I used to see these at like 900 rating a couple years ago. I haven't seen them in awhile and I'm 1300 now, but I can guarantee I would not fall for these... But mainly because I've fallen for them before lol

I'm about 1000 daily. I agree with you that the higher you go, you need to change your opening. I got to almost 1200 using the bishops opening or Italian but soon got dropped back down as they new how to play against the openings. Im not saying they don't or won't work but if you play the openings you need to study much deeper. I need to purchase one of his tutorials next time I get paid. I think it'll be a good investment :)

@@smilerjon3670 I've been thinking about buying some courses too. You can only figure out so much with just checking stockfish every game, and it's hard to remember specific lines when you don't know the idea behind it. My puzzle rating is 2100+, but my openings hold me back a lot. I just can't decide which opening I want to learn.

After your main line of 1. e4 e5; 2. Nf3 Nc6; 3. d4 ed; 4. Bc4 Nf6; 5. Ng5, 5...Ne5; 6. Bb3 d5 looks like a simpler way for black to defend, combining ideas from both variations. One possible variation is 7. ed Bb4+; 8. c3 dc; 9. bc Bd6 where black is solid enough and probably already for choice. In the final line given with 6...h6; 7. f4 hg; 8. fe Nxe4; 9. Qxd4, an interesting addition here is 9...d5. After 10. Bxd5, the tactical shot 10...Ng3 becomes possible, since Qf2 now leaves the bishop undefended; but possibly even better is 10...Bf5, exploiting the pin along the d file to create counterplay.

After e4 e5; Nf3, a lot of my opponents play d6 instead of Nc6 (I play Scotch almost always if opponent responds with e5). Some people say that Philidor defense isn't really good; are there any good ways to take advantage?
