I used the all purpose cleaner on the chrome in my shower and even gave it 10 min ‘dwell time’ , but the cloudy water spots remain . It dingifies(maybe a made -up word) the whole look . How to shine bathroom hardware , kitchen gooseneck faucets and even in door refrigerator water/ice dispensers they get spotted and generally dirty looking . I just want things to glimmer and shine 🤩

I made all of these cleaners a couple of weeks ago and they are all amazing. I would also like to add a recipe that I found for a spray deodorizer. 2 ounces of water 1 ounce of rubbing alcohol 30 drops of your favourite essential oil(I actually did 20 drops of peppermint and 10 drops of vanilla extract and it is amazing makes my house smell like chocolate mint ice cream). The all purpose cleaner is definitely the one I use the most and the one for vinyl flooring because I have vinyl plank in my kitchen and bathroom.

Your book opened my eyes in so many ways. I make a lot of my cleaners myself. I've only returned to buying toilet bowl cleaner, because we have very hard water, and the DIY recipe didn't cut it. I make my own all-purpose, bathtub, glass/mirror, as well as electronics cleaners after your recipes. They work wonderfully.

Have your mop and use it weekly. It’s great! Bought your book 3 years ago to clean my house more efficiently and in less time. Since that time use your DIY homemade cleaners listed in the book and love them. They work well and cost much less than what one buys in the store. The added bonus for people who have allergies is you don’t cough a lot due to the chemicals in store bought cleansers.

I've tried so many glass cleaners. "Streak free!" Yeah, right. Very streaky. I don't have microfiber cloths. I got rid of them. I dislike them for many reasons. I use old washcloths for cleaning, and I didn't have high hopes for Melissa's glass cleaner recipe, but I gave it a try. It looked streaky while I was doing it, so I was prepared to be disappointed. I went back over it with a dry washcloth. I am absolutely shocked. My bathroom mirror is cleaner than it's ever been, and NO fogginess or streaks! I keep going in there just to look at it lol. I logged onto youtube just to make this comment. I'm actually excited to clean my windows....Thank you Melissa!

SAME! I just tried the glass cleaner last night for my bathroom and I ended up cleaning every glass surface in my house because it worked SO GOOD. I'm unable to use chemical cleaners as I've developed sensitive airways over time. I start coughing & sneezing as soon as I start spraying. Same with white vinegar & eucalyptus oil. Years of repeated use has caused this issue & that's why I now prefer to use Nue Clean for all my cleaning. Odourless, yet tough enough to remove all dirt, soap scum & germs from most surfaces, only using water, salt & a drop of white vinegar. Unfortunately, these products are no longer available to buy, but I made sure I bought enough products to keep me cleaning for at least another 6 years. However, I still love the fragrance of essential oils. So calming & soothing🥰

Been making my own cleaning products for about 7 years. I make everything but laundry soap. Also make all our body care products too. Quick note about the window cleaner, while EOs are optional most of the time, they are needed for glass. Glass is full of tiny holes and the water vinegar can get stuck in those tiny holes, the eos actually stop that from happening.

Since discovering your channel, I've started using DIY cleaners for my general, daily cleaning. I use the "floor" cleaner on everything. The vinegar helps eliminate the odors from toilets (and commodes) and the surrounding floors (luxury vinyl and tile) safely. But, nothing beats Method's All Purpose (not the anti-bac, that leaves a sticky residue) to degrease my kitchen (I even dilute it by 50%). AND... BKF and BacOut have their place in my arsenal too. (PSA: I used BacOut on white grout and it changed my life. I hope it's not secretly dissolving my grout. But holy smokes, better than Soft Scrub w/ bleach, better than BKF, better than anything I've tried.) For dusting, I usually use my pillow cases before throwing them in the wash, but when I want be extra, I have Method's Wood Cleaner (is that what it's called? whatever, the almond scent) that I use with old pillowcases.

I buy cleaners in large jugs & just refill the squirty bottles; not perfect but not too bad either.

Have you tried different types of vinegar as each smells differently. I sometimes use apple cider, or distilled white vinegar as, you are right, malt vinegar is over powering. Also keep the amount of vinegar very low. The cleaning often comes from water and a drop of soap together with a cloth which will Remove anything undesirable. The house needn't smell of vinegar - which is what happened to me when I first started out.

I like to colour code the spray bottles with the cleanser in it. If the bottles are clear of opaque I try to get nozzles in colours and add a few drops of food colouring. That way the glass cleaner jug and solution is, yup, blue. I use green for my antibacterial solution just because green kinda looks germy,lol. And so forth. It helps family members to easily recognise which is which.

Melissa, what’s a good recipe for an antibacterial cleaner for the bathroom toilet and the floor around it? I have grandsons. 😩🙄
@eileenfb19483 жыл бұрын
To remove bacteria we need to remove oils and grease - yes they build up in the toilet too. I use the toilet brush first so I can remove any mineral build up from the water. Then use any kind of cleaner you prefer such as sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) - vinegar kills bacteria because of the low acid - a little spritzed around the bowl at the very end of cleaning. I use only one commercial product in my home - now and again - Ecover toilet cleaner. I hate the smell. Anything which removes grease will also remove the bacteria along with it.
@cleanmyspace3 жыл бұрын
Simple works best for keeping toilets clean, Julie. Using household items like hydrogen peroxide and essential oils will help flush away (had to!) bacteria and odors, while baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are great on stains.

I absolutely love this channel and have learnt so much from it. One question though, just for peace of mind: the amount of essential oil or rubbing alcohol or vodka in the DIY cleaners or room freshener, would they not make the surface flammable? Say I use the recipe for disinfecting the surface where I prep meat, and said surface is next to gas cooker, should I wait a while before using the cooker? Same with room freshener with vodka: I spray the DIY concoction then want to light a candle for a bit of ambiance. That's a bad idea, right?

I can't use commercial products as the smell in them triggers asthma - even hours later after airing the room. My favourite is water with liquid soap (unperfumed of course). For my glass cleaner, I start with a spray bottle that has a "bulb" at the end. I fill the bottle with water, a capful of vinegar and then fill that little bulb with Dawn dish soap. I call it Dawn-water. Much less vinegar smell and double grease cutting.
