Besides being a kick ass eternally cool song, an absolutely inspirational video! The aged hero, remembering his glory days, reduced to frailty by the passage of time, neglected, alone, living in poverty. He sees injustice and still has the heart of a hero, dons his uniform and goes after the bad guy. He’s accosted by young punks who beat him up, then ridiculed by another punk, but undeterred, continues doggedly towards the villain. His body doesn’t have the strength anymore, so he uses cunning and strategy to triumph over seemingly insurmountable odds. I’m not ashamed to admit that my eyes were glistening at the end of the video

I'm from the UK and no one here knows this song (apart from all the people I've forced it on), but when I was 13 I went to America on holiday. This song had just come out and it was EVERYWHERE. As soon as Napster was a thing, this was one of the first things I downloaded. I'd heard it nowhere since I'd got back home, but the band name and title were etched in my brain from American radio. Still one of my favourite songs ever, can sing it word for word as easily as breathing.

ok, for those of you balking at the fact that they aren't as popular as you want them to be, the genre is called Alternative Rock for a reason. Pop music overcorrected in employing rap over the last 10 years, but Alternative Rock had the overall consensus of maintaining their then numbers, wanting to maintain a sense of alternative as the name implies, something you had to look for almost, a joy to find. The term "Sellout" has actual meaning among artistic bands for a legitimate reasons

Now when I hear this song it reminds me of a friend of mine who I saved from suicide I felt like a complete dumbass because he stopped talking to me and never thanked me for saving his life and I was mad about it. A few weeks ago he thanked and said he was grateful that I saved him but he's doing drugs now he said it's to keep him from the blues hitting him and I remember he smoked too when I tried saving him and I did nothing, instead I only focused on his depression rather than focusing on both his depression and drug addiction. After he told me that he's become addicted to drugs I wanted to cry I feel selfish for being mad at him for the dumbest thing possible. It hurts me that he's struggling with drugs now. I would gladly save him again and as many times as I have to. I only wish to give him a hug and guide him to find the light and the right path. But he lives in a different state :( I can only talk to him and wish him the best that's all I can really do.
