Can You explain a little more on what you stated on @10:54 about loudness ! THANKS
@DowdenProductionAcademy3 жыл бұрын
LUFS are 'loudness units full scale' and they are measuring how loud the track 'is'. How loud it's perceived as humans. So an increase in LUFS is usually a sign that your track feels and sounds louder. But too high and it is likely not very dynamic. :)

Could you also show how these parallell effects affect your Master level volume? Especially compression. The reason I ask cause when I apply parallell compression to my kicks, it hugely amplifies my overal master volume, which is a pain when I want to make my mixes pre-mastser ready at -6db. Then I have to really lower down the volume of the parallel compressed kicks and then the effect kinda goes away. How do you deal with that?
@DowdenProductionAcademy3 жыл бұрын
Well usually parallel compression is only going to be adding a tiny bit of volume, and when it's REALLY compressed it shouldn't really have any peaks to throw your meters off. Go check your attack and release settings - is your attack set to 0? you may be getting random peaks going through. I'd suggest adding a limiter right after your parallel compressed signal and cutting off any peaks with a limiter to make sure you're not just getting random spikes. If it's till too much then you may just have to appropriately mix around that. I can't imagine adding too much volume, though. Parallel compression is usually somewhat subtle
