That's a really good looking nova panel wagon or sedan deliver whatever they called them I don't remember ever seeing one before nice.
@tackettshoh6 ай бұрын
Thanks. I call it a delivery. It’s a 65 nova wagon. I converted to a two door with real two door doors and B pillars. I built it with a friend of mine back in 1998. Chevy never made a two door nova wagon.

Sounds good man. The footage from the exhaust shop of down n dirty running gave a better idea of what it really sounds like. Almost ready to boil some tires.

@@tackettshoh the audio is hard with loud cars. I've been trying to get it sorted for a while now. Sadly good audio equipment is more expensive than good camera equipment and car parts, sooo, I stick to the car parts. haha I'll be watching for that road test video.

I must be to old because that is way to loud.😁 If the 383 isn't enough, install a 700R4. I lowered my QM time by a whole second swapping to that transmission. Just remember it's a medium duty transmission that can be built to handle 600 HP and torque somewhat affordable. Not sure how the higher rated ones hold up? Gearing makes a big difference, the way the engine is setup for low end cruising is perfect for the 700R4. The 1-2 shift is a big RPM drop so something that has good torque right off of idle works well to compensate for that drop. Or you can mill or swap heads with a set that has smaller chambers and swap the cam if you don't want to utilize gearing for better ETs? But you're not going to get over 20 mpg with this route
@tackettshoh8 ай бұрын
I’ve had three 700R4s in my 69 el Camino. Mild 454 in it. They didn’t last long. I swore never again touch one of those trannys. Unless it’s a completely stock engine.
@itseithergonnaworkoritaint78528 ай бұрын
How fast are you planning with this car? If you're going to keep it more street than strip with no plans on a cage then it doesn't need to be any faster than 11.50 in the QM. Any faster than that then you'll need a roll bar and so on... Fully dressed in street form that car should weigh right around 3,400. At this weight with that 383 and a 700R4 you should easily be able to hit the 11.50 goal and still get 20+ mpg daily driving it.😎👍
@itseithergonnaworkoritaint78528 ай бұрын
@@tackettshoh Yeah, they're not suitable behind big blocks. But work great mated to a small block. Just have to make sure it has the upgrades it needs to live and the TV cable is adjusted correctly, this is very important or you'll smoke the transmission. You should only need around 450 crankshaft HP to get to 11.50 if this is your goal? I installed a 700R4 in my 1965 Impala about 15 years ago and it still runs great. And actually I ran that transmission for about 5 years behind 3 different engines in my '64 Skylark before I installed it in my Impala. So if they're built right and installed properly they will last a long time. Get the lockout converter and a switch kit and run a trans cooler, it should last a long time. If you install a cage in the car then a 4L80E or a th400 if you plan on going cage fast with it?
@tackettshoh8 ай бұрын
@@itseithergonnaworkoritaint7852 I had the TV cable adjusted. Lock up converter on a pressure switch. $3000 transmission on that last one. Still didn’t last. I also beat the dog 💩 out of my cars though. The goals are always faster. Eventually this car will probably be caged and most likely turbo LS swapped. But we shall see.
@itseithergonnaworkoritaint78528 ай бұрын
@@tackettshoh Really, how many race cars do you need? I understand wanting many different classic cars to drive but not to ruin all of them by making them race cars. Street strip makes sense to me with them where they don't need to be hacked up but not having 10 race cars, that doesn't make sense.🤷 The best cars to make a race car out of is a front wheel drive turd, convert it to correct wheel drive and set it up to what drive train you want in it and race it then keep the classics road cars. IMHO. But hey, they're your cars, you can ruin every single one of them if you want to.😎👍
