Would putting the raised poles on the long side of the square( the long facing sides of the arena)work too? I ride western but need to build up my gelding again after a long time off.
@daisyequine6 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely, you can adjust the exercises however you want in order to make it work for you! Maybe stick with the poles on the floor before you step it up a level!

I’m a western rider and I do trail class so you know I work a lot with poles, if you want an even steps between the poles this is our method: if you want your horse to do it on walk count 1.5 steps, on trot 3 and on canter 6. And when you do that don’t walk normal but do you feet one abouve one like you measure something with your feet. Sorry for my English and I hope it will helped some of you(:

That sounds short which I guess makes sense because you are talking about WP horses

When doing poles and jumps do you count the strides from the end of the arena or do you just randomly place a jump?
@daisyequine5 жыл бұрын
I normally try to place them in the middle so they have equal space before and after the poles :)
