Thank you! This videos was an answer to prayer, I know I need to eat primarily a raw diet, but it is very challenging. I have been vegan for the last 9 months! But, I keep going back and forth from raw to cook foods. I would like to stay raw, but I have to cook for my family which makes it more of a challenge for me. I know I can do it , but I have to set my mind to it, like you guys are talking about in the video. Thank you so much for all your great videos and encouragement.

I'm with Andrew Perry! This is an answer to prayer! We're slowly growing more greens, juicing and raw fooding- but my husband is so tired often still. I spend hours researching only to get more confused and frustrated. I'm hoping this will help our final transition into the healthiest and most life giving eating.

+okraw I had no problem going vegan and gluten free as I was already vegetarian. Vegan diet is actually the foods I like best anyway. I have many health challenges, but now I tested positive for a NICKEL ALLERGY. For many with this allergy,t hey suffer health symptoms beyond a contact skin allergy, so a LOW NICKEL DIET is recommended. The problem is that EVERYTHING I like/need to eat, is high in nickel. It is difficult to be a vegan (or to eat healthy) on the low nickel diet. Example of prohibited foods: no chocolate, NUTS seeds, spinach beans, soy, it goes on and on. Also it is difficult to get a handle on exactly how much nickel is in various foods because it is not required on the labels and nickel content can vary GREATLY because of things like soil, fertilizer, etc etc. I am so very unhappy and it is only my third day. They say you need to do it for at least a month to know if it will help with your symptoms. I really need some advice from a vegan who has successfully done this diet. Do you know of anyone? An example of a LOW nickel meal: a BIg Mac (hell no!) it has refined white flour and meat which are both low nickel. Another low nickel foods is white rice (not much nutritional value there). I am struggling. If I were rich I would pay someone to lock me up for a month in a spa where I have no access to any high nickel foods.

+nicolaxoxo1 PS I have NO intention of breaking vegan, I am just struggling with the low nickel thing. Also wondering how the hell do I know about the nickel in my supplements? I use things like VitaMineral Green and maca, etc and I have no idea how much nickel is in these....supplements made from whole food obviously have nickel but I don't know how much. I also take aswagandha and lemon balm. Temporarily I have stopped many of the supplements but would like to resume.

+nicolaxoxo1 Nonickel.com talks about the No Nickel Diet. (nonickel.com/pages/the-nickel-allergy-diet) It doesn't seem as bad as you make it. You really should be working with an allergist or whoever gave you the test and test results. Nonickel.com recommends: "Before giving up chocolate or one of your favorite foods, contact a dermatologist or allergist specializing in contact dermatitis to see if you would benefit from a low nickel diet."

+okraw Great video! I have been vegan for seven years and was raw vegan for six months only. My biggest challenge was finding "ripe" fruit. It just seems all the grocery stores sell unripe fruit. Would love to be able to get my produce from a local farmer's market year round, but here in Ohio they only operate in the summer. Also, I need to be careful financially. Sure I could go to Whole Foods for my produce, but that approach is cost prohibitive for me.

Constance Lovejoy I am NOT just pulling this outa my ass. My dermatologist did the test and I had a very strong reaction.and he did recommend I try to follow the diet for AT LEAST one month because I have symptoms FAR beyond a minor contact dermatitis and they may or may not be due to the extremely high nickel diet I eat. That being said this particular derm is not a nutrition expert and I am trying to locate a doctor who is expert at vegan diets because going low nickel and vegan is NOT easy. And yes for me, it is as bad as I say because I ate lots of nuts seeds, beans, soy, spinach, teas, many dried fruits, chocolate.... Basically every meal I ate high nickel. and of course no chocolate is very hard, nearly unbearable. Going thru my kitchen there was virtually nothing that was allowed on the low nickel diet. Hundreds of dollars in food and maybe into the thousands if you count all my supplements and my various protein powders, spices. Just not sure which of those I can even eat, have yet to find info on the nickel content in the supplements and spices, except I know peas are never allowed, so pea protein is out. No canned food is allowed. Nut milks or sauces made from nut milks are not allowed. You can not cook in most metal pans. I hardly cook anyway as I am mostly raw but I did occasionally have some rice or noodles I cooked. It goes on and on, huge pain in the ass. Has really taken the joy out of eating. Most of the stuff that is allowed I just don't like.

John, thanks for this helpful information. I like what Dr. Dina has to say and I'm going to buy his book and sign up for the summit. Every single thing he cited that people criticize about the raw food diet (except for where do you get your protein) I still don't understand. B12, K2, iodine, gotta have bone broth, omega-3's -- I've done some research and am still confused :-) It's so true that different sources say different things. I don't know where Dr. Dina's course is or exactly how much it is, but it sounds like what I need so I'm going to find out more. Thanks again!

Thanks for posting this video. Very informative & insightful. I just turned vegan a few months ago & within the past few weeks transitioned to raw. A question i really want to know is what you think about eating raw artichoke? Do you eat it yourself? Is it something you think is healthy? If so, can you please post a video of how best to incorporate it into a smoothie, make a dip or how you eat it raw by itself. Thanks & all the best to you.

In my mind, artichokes go in the same category as broccoli: a vegetable that’s ordinarily cooked, but when fresh and young-to-middle-aged, is even better raw. Eat it alone. I cut off the inedible part of the leaves, remove the thistles, peel the stem, and possibly slice or cut up. Depending on the variety, it is otherwise not ideal to eat them raw, as there are some difficult to digest compounds and cellulose in it that often irritate and put undue stress on the digestive system. -- I would say freshness is crucial for eating them raw. Fresh artichokes are a delight, miss the freshness of ones I used to get. Raw baby artichokes sliced thinly and added directly to a salad. They stand out from the greens only slightly in texture but bring a wonderful flavor. I wouldn’t try eating the tired things I see in local grocery stores. Unless you get them the day they are picked, they are one of the foods I gave up (unless it is cooked) once becoming a mostly raw vegan, as a result.

people allow their minds to get more involved than it should. no doubt vegetables, whole grains and fruits (to name a few) are the way to go, but how does your diet make you FEEL? im omnivorous so my diet is balance, no excuses tried it all. veggies nuts and fruits are my staple but i consume around 5 oz of meat a day and a few eggs a week. i feel great, works for ME although an aberration is nice every once in a while (detox)

Hi, I was wondering if you can please make a video on how to heal a leaky gut?? I've been struggling with it for years, especially since I'm now plant based (but I can't consume grains, rice, quinoa, legumes, tomato, nightshades... and then I got doctors saying I shouldn't consume a lot of sugar INCLUDING fruits). So I'm like, "What the hell do I est then?!! Just lettuce all day?! PLEASE HELP. I'm pulling my hairs off my head here.
