Love the old newspaper. I just wanted to put the word out for those on a budget; i asked at my local library about what they do with damaged books or how they handle raggedy books that were donated for their book sales (all their 'for sale' books are nearly perfect). They have a small trolley of free books when they retire reference books. I gave them my number and a few days later got a complete set of nice encyclopedias.

Before I did one thing, i sorted all my saved pieces of paper into colors---the 8 basic colors plus ones for gold, silver, turquois, lime-green, pink & white. Also one for text, numbers, Christmas, multi-colored & ethnic. They are each in manilla file folders standing up in a cut down box, for a quick grab of the labled folder. It has really helped me keep magazine pictures, cards, junk mail pieces, and various cards in a color scheme. When I want a pink flower or a silver bowl, I can quickly check my stash to see I have something to use. All big pieces are elsewhere.

Hi Pam, glad u made it thru Elsa unscathed. This is the 1st time since moving 2 Fla on the west coast (about 20 yrs ago😎), I thought we were in 4 it.😱 I just love ur videos, u absolutely make my day & put a smile on my face. THANKS. I wanted 2 share how I manage paper & scraps...... I'm & bit of an OCD individual & I had made the storage books a while back. Everything was separated by size, color, prints, music etc. & put in the books I made, on a bookshelf, by my side & easy 2 reach. Lg bk, med bk, repeating Lg, Med & so on by Color & Alphabetically. U kno B 4 blues & so on. Sm items were put in zip lock bags where I inserted a covered cereal box front or back giving the bag structure. I then put the papers in them & then in a large 3 ring binder, again repeating the alphabetic color order. I insert plastic report covers inside if there r a few scraps or smaller pieces. Zip locks r great though.. NOW, The only CHANGE MADE was inside the book itself. I attached expandable pockets on the inside of the front & back panels so papers wouldn't fall out of the bottom when lifted. Anyway I hope I made sense here concerning my paper system. 🤗

Good to hear that you & your's, are safe Pam - bc it sounds truly scary, from afar! 🌬🌪🌀🌨💧🌊 I keep : my 'long-uns' in elastics : my big flat ones in old IN/OUT drawers (color coordinated from light to dark/top to bottom) : minis in tuille bags/small boxes But I really like your 'book' alternative! Hello flutely Holly! sounding good today 🎶 & 👋 Sunshine, with a new sound! 🌞 hello from Denmark 🌱🌸

Glad y'all fared well during/after the storm. I don't miss dealing with tropical storms or hurricanes at all. I'll take my blizzards any day. 🤣 Your storage ideas are adorable. I'm wondering how they are holding up? I envision the papers sliding out on to the floor if I did that.😅 I use cheap baggies for mine and stand them up in a plastic dollar store basket that I've had for ages. I sort by size, plain/design, and paper thickness. Thanks for sharing your ideas! I really enjoyed watching how you assembled the books and re-enforced the spines. 🥰🥰🥰

Good morning Pam, great idea. They would be good to hang on a peg board. The gutted books are a great idea, it would serve 2 issues I have, where to put my gutted books and where to store my scraps. I currently have all of my gutted books, in a box and just use them when i need a specific size for making journals. If I used them to store my scraps, I could put them in the book case with a label on the spine.

I have lots of scraps, as most of us do, but they always get put somewhere I can't find them so I have to cut from a larger or whole piece and it just makes more scraps. I really don't like that one bit! So this has given me lots of ways to do it. I like so far, using the gutted book. Thanks a bunch.

Morning Pam, just want to tell you how happy I am that I discovered your channel. Have watched a whole lot of the "older" videos and loved them. I think you are an amazing crafter, using up what is always available around the house and spending very little on "proper" journaling supplies, we can't all do that on a tight budget, but you have shown us we can still have beautiful journals by using what we have, we have to only think out of the box sometimes, so THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!!! I love the old newspaper you are using, OH #@%#%^%$# I just love your channel, so there!!!!!!! LOL. Anyway, love and hugs to Sunny and Blessings and hugs to yourself from Cape Town, South Africa. I thought it was interesting that the small paragraph you read happened to do with General Grant - at the end of my daughter‘s school year, this year, we were doing a large project on the Civil War. General Grant fought for the North. He died about 3 months after that paragraph was written. I have a book that I gutted, Photographic History of the Civil War, and use it often in junk journaling.

I love this idea! I'm always looking for ways to organize my scraps! I took a plastic photo album from the Dollar Tree and sorted my scraps by color for all my small scraps, anything that would fit in there. It's pretty fat but works well. I'm definitely making this one. I have the ikea black shelves over my work table and I hang items I'm working on with S hooks to keep them handy. I am planning a new shelf to hang a few of these that I can grab quickly!

What a great way to organize scraps. I’m watching your video and thinking what a great way to also organize future junk journals. Instead of one covered cardboard you make two which will later become front and back covers for a journal, attach scraps and papers that coordinate, to the faux clipboard/book covers. ☺️

Hello Pam & Family! Yes Pam I am having a serious scrap problem but I'm trying hard to keep them organized in the process. I love that book Wild Flowers Of The World it is awesome. You have some cool stencils and I love how you used it on the inside of the book cover. Wow that 1800's new paper is awesome and shocking that its still around and looks like in good shape. Hi to big boy Sunny!

Great idea to hide craft pages that my husband may throw away, lol. Also thank you for sharing that newspaper, so interesting! I paused the video to read more in it.

You can also hang the clipboards from a hook on the wall. That way they won’t take up space in a cupboard. Easy to see what you have then too. Guess you need a dedicated craft space for this though.
