Whenever I pot a new sans. I tie a soft cotton shoe lace around the whole plant. They love being compact and will grow straight and never get floppy. It also makes it much easier to divide them. Of course I never do this to the smaller hahni ones! My plants look great and stand straight up like soldiers! Thanks for all the great info! Take care, Rev. Jackie 😊❤

I now have become addicted to plants kingdom and your channel as well :) I have now snake plant not more than 7 hours and 7cm height of a clay pot with a hole and a mix of peatmoss and perlite I wish as much as it is expensive here in Egypt to get it grow to the ceiling, as I found that for each 10 cm of height the price is doubled. I wish to have a trip inside the brain and roots of the plant and fulfill all of their requirements:)

I just wanted to add for people checking the comments for this stuff (I looked but didn’t find anyone else talking about it): in my experience with this plant, letting it callous is imperative to not experiencing nearly half of my props from rotting. I was doing 3 days, but increased to 4 or 5, because it was still around 30% loss. Since upping it, I haven’t loss any of my water props, I also notch all of them as they suggested. I’m now at a point where My first wave of props are ready to be switched to soil, and I’m going to be trying a technique where you slowly add soil to the water then over time reduce the amount of water. The theory is it gives them time to put out appropriate roots, again reducing the amount of loss in the transfer.

I just planted a tall plant like he is showing with the root. I had to use a moss pole just to stabilize it until it developed a larger root system as it will tip out of the pot. The others that had root rot I put in to water. But I'm going to re-cut in to a V as he recommends. Very good advise.

Thx for such great and thorough information. I hope to root some cuttings from my moonshine sansevieria. I have heard that if u propagate using the cutting method and the sansevieria has a special variegation (like sans. whitney or Bantel's sensation) that you lose that variegation and it will revert back to more normal variegation. This does not happen if you propagate using the rhizomes. Hope you can address this in a Q&A.

I was very much into propagating Sansevieria in both water and soil last fall indoor. (I used the cuttings in 2-3 inch method). In the end only 1 or 2 (out of 20) succeeds after 6 months (with roots growing out) and I won't say it's growing fine in the last few months. So I've given up propagating Sansevieria. I'll just buy.

Thanks so much! Love the knowledge you share, always relevant and concise! Question- I’ve always had success with water propagation and my sansaveria cutting actually had pups while in water. Is it too late to transfer to soil? Based on what you said, it seemed I had left the cuttings in water too long!! I am now wondering what would happen if sansaveria pup grows in water… rot?!

Thanks for your super informative video. Going to propagate my Sansevieria 'Moonshine' today as it is getting several pups and looking a bit cramped in its pot. For the water propagation method for cuttings, you mention that water roots start to form after a couple of inches of growth. Is this true for any plant, or just specifically Sansevieria? I've only attempted props in perlite as information from another source suggested any root grown in water is a water root - so I find it quite fascinating if that's not the case for the early root stages!

So I started propagating my snake plant and when the cutting grows shoots, what happens to the original cutting? Does it grow taller or does it die and the new offshoot lives on? I have a really long beautiful leaf that I had to cut the bottom off to save it. So I was kind of hoping that the leaf would continue to grow taller and maybe have offshoots, but that original beautiful leaf would still be ok. It's quite unique to the rest of the leaves from the original pot. I've never really had plants before, so sorry if this is a stupid question.

I have a fairly large Sansevieria with 9 or 10 growing stems and it is doing quit well. But 1 or 2 of these stems always droop or bend over about half way up. I thought it may need more water but that didn't help and I don't want to overwater it. Is there something I could do to get it to all stand up straight? Or should I remove those parts and start new ones?

Yes! Tie your plant up with a soft cotton shoe lace! You may need more then one if it's really tall! They love being tight and will grow straight up! Just don't bend them in or squeeze too tight! All my tall ones are tied, and look great, healthy, and strong! Good Luck! Rev. Jackie❤😊
