You know these guysll never get rich doing this but they love it and they keep societies integrity. They make beautiful music for the sake of the art and love. I know, that and 250 gets u a cup of coffee but there's really something to be said for having an appreciation for beauty. Its one of the better angels of our nature, some of us even the most physically unappealing and odd , can see and appreciate beauty and some can even make it. To say I made this thing of beauty, its truly noble. Don cha think?

You so right about not getting rich as as jazz musician. Such beautiful musical enrichment should never have to go away for lack of funds.

The trio is really, really good. I could listen to them play all day, everyone had a great sound and swung really well together. I can dig it, baby. The world needs more jazz musicians, keep playing the good stuff, man.

Hello! My name is Paul and I play Bebop- I am from Chicago, and the older cats like me, tune the drums pretty much like you explained- I tune my drums with the bottom almost a third higher than the top - and almost a fifth apart from the small tom to the floor tom- and about a fourth to the bass drum- I have an old Sonor rosewood set with a matching snare drum- and the drums sound great to me and I have let another drummer sit in so I can hear the drums- and they speak clearly and the sound is nice and rich and full- i have enjoyed your things on you tube and I must say, you really know your stuff and I look forward to watching all of your videos and learning alot from you! keep up the great work! Bebop Paul from Chicago P.S. Your playing is great, too! Is that an Old K I heard??!!

Because, even at 17 years of age Tony Williams had listened to the jazz drummers that came before him but he ALWAYS took what they did and made it his own thing. All I hear today is young drummers copping a few "licks" ....Here is my 5 note Tony thing....and then regurgitating that back out with no twist to it at all. This makes for thousands of drummers sounding the same. All of this is because we focus on such a narrow segment of the history of jazz and improvised musics.
