I hate that couples see rings like these on Pinterest and think they are realistic designs. I crush dreams every day when I explain that these trends aren’t sustainable for a piece of jewelry you’ll wear for the rest of your life. Thank you for making this content, I wish every soon-to-be-engaged couple could watch your videos before purchasing a ring!

I know, I always feel like such a major Debbie downer telling people that their dream ring isn’t a good idea but knowing it’ll save them heartache/wallet-ache on a broken ring or lost stones is always worth it!

To be fair, those styles would be fine for a ring you plan to only wear occasionally/to events and/or don’t mind if you break it. The issue is people think they can do this with engagement rings they plan to wear day in and day out for years on end 😅

Friendly reminder all is not lost if something goes down the drain--shut the water off ASAP and grab a bucket. Most sink piping is super easy to screw apart and put back together without any special tools or knowledge. If you still can't find whatever you're looking for, call a plumber. They might be able to find it further down in the piping. I once lost something down the drain in a hotel sink and was even able to rescue it in that circumstance. Just make sure you have some gloves and a strong stomach lol. Those pipes are gross inside.

i actually like the look of your petal prongs a lot more than the rings with 4. the lattice work makes it look like more tjme went into it. im fine with dainty and feminine rings but i dont want them to look cheap and low effort which I feel like has been happening more frequently so the added intricacies (besides all of the benefits you listed) also elevate the look of it in my opinion. dont know if ive seen one of your videos before but good on you!

But now I have to ask: I'm dead set on either a .50 or .25 ct heart shaped diamond, white gold solitaire. Would 2mm be okay for the band? How many prongs should the diamond have? My long and thin fingers demand something relatively dainty, but my clutz nature needs something sturdy enough not to lose money down the drain 😂
@thekingsdaughter4233
@thekingsdaughter4233 2 ай бұрын
@@c9b7 I think she said somewhere 2mm minimum, so that would work (both width and thickness - 2mm wide, 2mm thick). If you plan on having a row of these tiny diamonds set into the band, you will probably want to go wider, as this weakens the stability of the band.
@c9b7
@c9b7 2 ай бұрын
@@thekingsdaughter4233 Oh okay, thank you so much! No additional stones, just the plain band for me. Glad to hear it should be stable enough, 2mm still looks quite nice and dainty 🙂

2mm with 5 prongs would be ideal, especially if the bottom prong is v-shaped to avoid the tip of the heart becoming damaged. Congratulations in advance on your engagement! (I was a manager of a jewelry store for 5+ years)

It is better than with a huge rock of course but even as a band alone, or with small stones, if the band is thin, it can bend. I’d avoid it for an engagement ring, just get one as a fun ring.

My engagement ring was $10, my fiancée’s was only $3. We’re ultra broke, but even if we did have more money to spend, I don’t think we’d spend more than $150 per ring. It’s just not that deep to us lol. After 10 months of daily wear since we got engaged, our rings certainly aren’t looking new anymore, but we both find that beautiful and deep in itself

what's a gallery rail? I'm pretty sure my ring has one (it was in the catalogue at Jared's when we looked there, but we ended up buying it from our local jeweler instead, and this was about 6 years ago) but I'm not sure. It's a "diamond solitaire twist engagement ring" but with 4 prongs instead of 6, and i got a cushion cut diamond. :p

Why would you even wear a chunky diamond with such a plain ring? I dont get it. Much rather have a special ring design with a lot of tiny diamonds but it's all just personal preference. The pedals ring looks really nice though, doesn't have the diamond pop out as much and makes the ring an actual part of the design. Also love the pedals on the diamond.

So nothing pretty where you can actually see the stone 😢 can't a stronger metal be used?
@katfoster845
@katfoster845 2 ай бұрын
It's fairly common for stronger metals to be used (eg my ring is gold but the prongs are platinum), but ultimately if you want a secure stone you need to have a decent amount of metal holding it in place. My fiancé chose a beautiful ring with a diamond surrounded by small rubies. The diamond is very easily visible, but the rubies around it act like extra prongs so it's very secure. My ring is well over 50 years old (we bought second hand) and it should last another lifetime with care.
