I hate that couples see rings like these on Pinterest and think they are realistic designs. I crush dreams every day when I explain that these trends aren’t sustainable for a piece of jewelry you’ll wear for the rest of your life. To be fair, those styles would be fine for a ring you plan to only wear occasionally/to events and/or don’t mind if you break it. The issue is people think they can do this with engagement rings they plan to wear day in and day out for years on end 😅
@PandoraBear357Ай бұрын
Meh. Just get a cheap ring for everyday wear/travel and keep the expensive ring in a safe or safety deposit box for special occasions. I have a $100 sterling silver and sapphire ring I wear on vacation. My wedding set doesn't travel or get worn while I do certain things like hiking. Not a big deal if the cheap ring gets lost, broken, or stolen.

Friendly reminder all is not lost if something goes down the drain--shut the water off ASAP and grab a bucket. Most sink piping is super easy to screw apart and put back together without any special tools or knowledge. If you still can't find whatever you're looking for, call a plumber. They might be able to find it further down in the piping. I once lost something down the drain in a hotel sink and was even able to rescue it in that circumstance. Just make sure you have some gloves and a strong stomach lol. Those pipes are gross inside.

Girlies, get WHATEVER ring you want and make it last by wearing at appropriate times. Cleaning, cooking, swimming or activities that are dangerous should be avoided regardless of what ring you have. I've seen shorts where ring repairs are done to VERY expensive rings so they don't last either. Expecting to wear your ring all the time is a stupid expectation anyways, it's an accessory not something we need on us 24/7. So stop listeing to these digital ads and marketers and simply do some research before doing things. The girls diamond would have been just fine if she was wearing it when needed...you do not need to be wearing your ring while washing hands and I'm pretty sure water should be avoided at all times regardless of how expensive or "good quality" a ring is.

But now I have to ask: I'm dead set on either a .50 or .25 ct heart shaped diamond, white gold solitaire. Would 2mm be okay for the band? How many prongs should the diamond have? My long and thin fingers demand something relatively dainty, but my clutz nature needs something sturdy enough not to lose money down the drain 😂
@thekingsdaughter42334 ай бұрын
@@c9b7 I think she said somewhere 2mm minimum, so that would work (both width and thickness - 2mm wide, 2mm thick). If you plan on having a row of these tiny diamonds set into the band, you will probably want to go wider, as this weakens the stability of the band.

It is better than with a huge rock of course but even as a band alone, or with small stones, if the band is thin, it can bend. I’d avoid it for an engagement ring, just get one as a fun ring.
@PandoraBear357Ай бұрын
Get 10k or 14k gold. The higher gold contents like 24k and 18k are softer and more prone to denting and bending. People think 24k is best, but for certain things the less pure golds are more practical in application.

@katfoster8454 ай бұрын
It's fairly common for stronger metals to be used (eg my ring is gold but the prongs are platinum), but ultimately if you want a secure stone you need to have a decent amount of metal holding it in place. My fiancé chose a beautiful ring with a diamond surrounded by small rubies. The diamond is very easily visible, but the rubies around it act like extra prongs so it's very secure. My ring is well over 50 years old (we bought second hand) and it should last another lifetime with care.
