I am so lucky to be near a club fitter. The difference in the knowledge of a professional club fitter and a coaching pro regards equipment is vast. If you are fortunate to have forged iron (Srixon) then you can get them dialled-in every couple of years for very little outlay - instead of wasting time with a pro fixing a swing that is actually OK.

Got a used set of irons. First hit with a 6 iron went literally 30 yards left! Huh? I did it 3 more times and knew they were too steep. I didn't hit any more until I had the lie angle of all of them flattened. Huge huge huge difference.

Good information it's the little details that most golfers just didn't know that can bite them. I see many that just don't make good setup decisions. Thank you

lie angle is very important. I adjusted my gap wedge up a degree, and it is now straight to the target.

Great video. I actually play my longer irons (4-6) more upright than standard and my wedges flatter than standard. As far as grips go, by measurements I should play a standard grip but I play more consistently with midsize grips.

Wonderful info....I use a cheap (dollar store) cutting board to see how my lie angle interacts with the club . I have always had problems with fairway wedge usage ,but my new 52 must have the right lie angle because it's like throwing darts now.

Do you use the cutting board like a lie angle board to see what mark the sole makes on the board?
@alexjohn5086 Жыл бұрын
@@Ryglado ...yes with a little painters tap on bottom of the club or black marker pen.

Loft/Lie Angle should be checked on all new club purchases. Like how my Taylormade 56 came. Thanks to AJ for wrestling that monster and doing a video about it.

Hey AJ, great video, what machine do you use for loft and lie adjustments? Do you still bend them with a bend bar? Can that be purchased from golf works? Thanks again

Very good information, thank you! Need me a full bag fitting from you... I'm in the northeast so it would have to be a specific trip, but I think it has to be done. Keep up the great work!

Cool loft lie gauge…where’d you get it ?

They are out of California. I randomly stumbled across it on eBay years ago.

Is there a product name ?

@@sloswingspeed9535 Golf Instruments is the brand. They only make one so you don't need a model. Also make a shaft extractor that looks like a piece of art.

I got fit for a set of Homna irons about a year or so ago. As I had been fit a few times before I knew I would be around 2 degrees flat of standard and standard length. I ordered 5 to 11 iron. I noticed mid season that my shorter irons I tended to pull left. Never thought much of it. Recently I had my equipment checked and the 5 6 7 8 were all 2 flat but the 9 10 and 11 were 1 up. Now they have been flattened 2 flat they are much better. Also in regards to putting is the any calculation to get optimum length and lie?
@EFG22 жыл бұрын
I am old school for length. Just want to find the length that allows you to address the ball in a comfortable stance with appropriate waist bend. Lie angle can be figured out but it's not nearly as important because there is so little loft at impact. Unless the lie is really far off, I think it comes down more to just the look than the very very minor start line change.

A camera-bases putter fitting is crucial for most. My optimal putter loft is -1 degrees. I would have never gotten there no matter how many off the rack putters I tried.

I play with 120g iron stiff KBS shaft, but I am only hitting 150 yards with my 7 iron so should I use lighter and regular shaft? Pls advise. Many thanks
@EFG22 жыл бұрын
Very likely that shaft isn't helping you at all. I might look into the 90-105g weight class.
@sloswingspeed95352 жыл бұрын
If you look at Trackman LPGA and PGA average yards per mph, you will fin f that ~~1.9-2 yds per mph is a darn good way to get to shaft optimization. Tour folks go heavier and tip stiffer because of desired tempo and late release. 150/7 sez you’re at 75 mph and I’m betting your 85+ . Agree …drop to - 105-110S see what happens. Happen to think Nippon doing really good work in the Modus lineup.

Should all your grips be the same brand ? When you buy clubs they don’t always use the same grip.
@EFG2 Жыл бұрын
Ideally you want a similar feel in all the grips but I know plenty of golfers who use different grips on woods vs irons etc.
