I had a midsize grip for a couple of months then went back to standard and kept it in the fairway more often. Guy Canada 🇨🇦

If you go even larger you might find that your shots go left... I had been playing jumbomax mediums (huge) and I was fighting a massive hook because the grip being so big it was causing my actual grip to be way to strong on my right hand in order to feel comfortable swinging hard at impact. I recently switched to a less tapered midsized grip and have really straightened things out.
@kennethgarrison5218 ай бұрын
Certainly, it would be likely that a person‘s glove size would come into play. Since you do custom fittings, I would think you would have some guidance as to what sizes of grip to test or start off with basedon glove size.

would love to see other grips as well, non tapered and reversed tapered. I like the feeling of bottom hand bigger or same size as top.

I switched from regular to jumbo grips and got more distance and accuracy. Shot my lowest score ever at the end of last season. Most golfers I play with block and slice drivers all day with standard grips so I would say at least midsize for increased grip and control. The grip model is also important. I think grips with high tack like the GP CP2 wrap, IOMIC sticky and Winn Dri-Tac are awesome.

I was curious and tried some jumbo cpx grips. I found everything to be a club short. I realize now plus4 are my favorite! BTW I have a set of jumbos for sale!

I think it’s all preference.. on my irons I like the grip to barely be bigger than the shaft, I feel like I have more control of the face but in the driver I like something a little meatier, a little softer, it feels more stable to me.

I use the Winn DriTac LT midsize but will swap to the oversize or the JumboMax small(the less tapered one) soon. I have ligament\tendon and Ulnar nerve damage in right elbow and a little carpal tunnel. The larger grips just make it easier to hold onto clubs when I am hurting as grip strength weakens with the pain. I have never tried to test if I hook it more or hit it farther with bigger grips though.

I use regular size grips with one extra wrap of tape, something this amateur didn't know about. One wrap extra equals + 1/64 or midway between the standard and mid. this was what the Callaway fitters set me up with and it works great.
@EFG2 Жыл бұрын
Be aware that not all grips react the same to build up tape. Some will stretch thinner so that the final diameter actually stays the same because the rubber now has to cover more surface area. The result is a grip of the same diameter but with a firmer feel do to the tighter rubber.

Great video. I love the TM 300 Mini driver. What shaft are you using? Is it a fairway wood shaft or a driver shaft that's been tipped? I'm thinking of tipping my driver shaft (HZRDUS Black RDX 6.5) and putting in on the mini driver.

Cool test! Curious if it’s the size if the grip or change in swing weight/total weight that has the most influence on outcomes.
@EFG22 жыл бұрын
I go with size. The difference in SW between standard to mid or standard to under, is about the same but very different results. Jumbo was obviously the biggest difference but again difference between mid and jumbo is about the same as standard to midsize.

You seem you be very knowledgeable on grips and I’ve watched so many of your grip/regripping videos and appreciate all the information. I just have a question for you regarding midsize. The specific grip I want to go to is a standard option (The team grips from superstore) is building up the tape 4 wraps a good enough fox or should I stick with a midsize option
@EFG210 ай бұрын
It will change the feel because you end up stretching out the rubber. Honestly even with 4 wraps it probably won't be the same size. I would recommend finding the grips you want online as they have more midsize options.
@rodrig132 жыл бұрын
I don’t know if it is the thicker grip that influences the face. Or is it the fact that you are changing the balance point and swing weight of the club?
@EFG22 жыл бұрын
Go with size personally. Difference from standard was the same with the mid and the undersize (about 2SWPs), but the mid felt good and gave good results and the undersize didn't. Jumbo made it even lighter SW, again about same difference from mid to jumbo but the jumbo just felt very very different in the hands.

Curious what the weight difference was among those grips…I would imagine the weight difference among them would affect your swing dynamic. I’ve found some mid-sized grips that are the same weight as my normal standards grips, and they feel much better for me…love them.

These PURE grips all change a good amount with size. Winn and JumboMax are two options that don't.

I’ve gone between midsize and standard about a thousand times…. Results wise there is no noticeable difference. I say play whatever is most comfortable.

It seems there's a missed step between the "midsize" and the "jumbo": a regular "oversize" grip.

Max ball speed with the standard. What about the swing speed? Did you lost some swing speed with bigger grip?

What effect did the different size grips have on swing weight? Could that be a factor too?
@EFG22 жыл бұрын
The undersize increased the SW by 2pts. The jumbo probably dropped the SW by 5pts. Maybe a factor with the jumbo but really think the size is the big difference.

What about +4 grips compared to regular tapered grips? Are there similar downsides, or are they more of a just for a players feel?
@EFG2 Жыл бұрын
They both quiet the hands but the Plus4 works more on the trailing hand while the overall bigger grips influences the lead hand more.

Stronger grip, bigger grip better. So called ''nutural'' grip requires way more wrist rotation, and so, less consistant re the direction.

I've just started this experiment with my driver after fighting a massive push slice that has seen my drivers in and out of my golf bag for 40 years that lessons have never managed to fix. I have put a Jumbo CP2 wrap grip on my current driver and now have started hitting a draw and finding the l/h side of the fairway. It's too early to tell if this is placebo or a fix but it's been nice to not see the push slice.
