There are certain truths that every Christian should understand and believe when it comes to the Holy Spirit. In this episode, Costi Hinn unpacks 3 essentials to help all Christians grasp and relish the Holy Spirit’s work as a member of the Trinity. He also covers some of the historical heresies that were condemned by early church councils and provides practical insights for those who have swung to extremes when it comes to the Holy Spirit.

As a former hyper-charismatic, I used to view these doctrinal discussions as so antithetical to the work of the Holy Spirit because how could the Lord work in our hearts and lives via our brain? But when God saved me out of deception, it was almost immediate that I was hungry to hear doctrine clearly explained and the Word of God clearly, correctly and exegetically preached. Thank you brother Costi for this series and your online ministry! It's such a blessing!

Thank you Costi! I was born into the mormon cult so as you can imagine I’ve struggled with the Trinity. One of the biggest reasons I walked away from mormonism is due to their teachings on God. I really hated they wouldn’t acknowledge the cross and Jesus is satans brother and their whole thing with men becoming gods and women will be eternally pregnant with multiple god husbands. On and on but I’m getting off track, 13 yrs ago I thought I found the truth but recently my eyes were opened and I finally have conversion and my mind has been exploding in understanding the Bible. I really have a new heart/mind. False doctrine and teachers, I don’t need to tell you, are sooooo harmful! I just wanted to tell you I truly appreciate Godly men like yourself and putting the truth out there. You truly glorify God and are a light! 😊

When a God-fearing, full- of-love person enters a room, of course the “atmosphere” is altered for good!! BUT he or she is STILL a person; they don’t become the “atmosphere” that they are in. I feel like that’s how we misuse The Holy Spirit and it grieves my heart so much. HE is So LOVELY!! HE is everything God is because He IS GOD! ❤ Bro. Costi!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✝️💟

Wonderful. I'm so grateful to God, the Holy Spirit, who convicts me of sin -- especially when I haven't noticed it for several days. I ask Him, the Holy Spirit, to show me my sin and convict me so that I may repent and turn from it, ask His help in overcoming it, and get myself right with God - daily. He does the hard work. I just want to make sure I do not begin to dull my conscience. It's so easy to sweep sin under the rug and say "That's not a big deal" then the next one is worse, and out comes the broom again. So grateful to the Holy Spirit for His help when I read the Bible and He illuminates scripture for me. So grateful to the Holy Spirit for His intercession for me to the Father and the Son.

Thanks Costi, yes since coming out from among the charismatic and aligning with reformed theology, I observed much of what you said: people almost numb unable to lift their hands in worship to God, hesitant/unable to day Amen when agreeing, hesitant/unable to say Praise God or Praise be to God after scripture was read. People wholly avoiding putting the Holy Spirit and His role into perspective. Thanks for this clarity!!

No where other than once in the gospels just before Jesus was to go to the cross as he was speaking to his disciples. Are we told to take up our cross. Paul doesn’t mention it. James doesn’t mention it. Peter doesn’t mention it to me if he doesn’t mention it, John doesn’t mention it. we have been crucified with Christ. We do not need to take up a cross any longer. When you read in contacts where the scripture is taken out of context, so many times, we see Jesus is speaking to the disciples just before used to go to the cross. if this was the case that we are to take up across than the early church, writers would have made mention of it as well. This is extremely difficult to those who are under the law, and have a works performance relationship with God.

Thank you again for the timely video, brother Costi! God bless you! Can you consider, please, to tell us more about the baptism in the Holy Spirit? It is clear from Scripture that there is a necessity of this baptism, even for believers, if they haven’t gone through it yet (Pentecost, Act 8:14-17, Acts 19:1-7, Romans 8:9). We have a son, who believes in Jesus, but lives a worldly life and there is no real desire for holiness in him, at least outwardly. We think that he needs to be baptised in the Holy Spirit, but we are not very sure what does it mean in a practical way and who has the authority to do it. We both have been hurt from charismatic churches and we don’t want to depend on our former experiences. Thank you.

He doesn’t need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. What he does need is teachings on who he is in Christ. What about Christians who are baptized in the spirit and live a worldly life. This is not a guarantee whatsoever. What is a guaranteed is that your son is taught who he is in Christ. But he is a new creation in Christ Jesus. That his heart now is obedient to do the will of God. But it is not works that make us obedient but it’s following our heart which is new in Christ.

What you have to understand is these events happened as the early church was being established. Jesus had just died and rose again and his disciples were still alive and on earth. This is THE time when the “switch over” was happening from Judaism to Christianity. This is the time when many had heard John the Baptist’s message about a coming Messiah and believed John, but hadn’t heard about Jesus and/or His finished work on the cross. You have to read the passages you mentioned in context. These later passages in Acts are fulfilling of the prophesy of Acts 1:8. There were people who lived far away and had heard about the words of John the Baptist, but the message of Christ hadn’t reached them yet. You have to read with the historical context in mind. When reading these historical events, we can’t read them as “this exact thing needs to happen to me”. We read it as “these are the historical events that happened in the 1st century to establish the message of Christ IS the Messiah.” If Paul had wanted all Christians to seek after a 2nd experience after this initial period of the Holy Spirit being poured out during the establishing of the early church in the transition period, I believe he would have made himself very clear about it. (And I say all this being in Pentecostal churches for nearly 40 years. I know their doctrine and use of Acts.)

@@JBM101 Thank you for your response. It is true that what matters is who we are in Christ, which one learns by the renewing of the minds through the Word of God. But how the new nature starts existing in us and what, or who, gives us the understanding of the mind of Christ? And what, or who, gives us the desire to do right instead wrong? Who is the one that convicts us of our sins? Without the Holy Spirit the natural man doesn’t have neither desire, nor strength to change and to be holy. You said it yourself, that the real change comes not from outside, but from within. And it will show up outside only, when within there is someone stronger than the old rebel. And that’s the Holy Spirit. We saw it in the lives of the apostles. Even they couldn’t do it without Him.

@@Charris3140 Thank you for your response and for trying to help. I do agree with you about the importance of context, but the context of Acts 8 is as follows: “But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and women.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:12‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬ And afterwards there was an obvious necessity of another baptism - that of the Holy Spirit. From then on the water baptism hasn’t ceased and it’s part of our Christianity through the ages. Why then the baptism of the Holy Spirit it’s not necessary anymore? Do you conclude that because the church was in its beginning, the believers needed the Holy Spirit more than us today? About the apostles I do not argue - they were in the foundation, yes. I do ask about the ordinary believers, like those Samaritans then and us today?

Costi, great video! I do have one question, though. Can you show me in the Bible where we are instructed to pray to the Holy Spirit? When writing my book on Pauline doctrine, I searched in vain for any such prayer. In fact, every prayer in the NT is _to_ the Father, _through_ the Son, _in the power of_ the Spirit. I think if we're going to worship God correctly, this is clearly the pattern outlined for us in Scripture.

I think this is a case of the "mystery" of the Trinity. What we say to the Holy Spirit is as though we're talking to God. For example if I say "Thank you Holy Spirit" or "Please help my Holy Spirit". This is a prayer and I have not prayed amiss. This is my thinking.

Trinitarians can you answer this about the verse below (Remember, God the Father and God the Holy Spirit are two distinctly different Spirits according to the Trinity Doctrine)? Note the lower case "h" in the word holy below: Isaiah 63:10 KJV But they rebelled, *_and vexed his holy Spirit:_* therefore *_he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them._* 1- Which God's Spirit was vexed - God the Father, or God the Holy Spirit? 2- Which God then became their enemy and fought against them - God the Father or God the Holy Spirit? 3- Is it possible that Almighty God could have His own Spirit vexed (seeing His being is a Spirit), and that "His Spirit" isn't referring to another god, person or spirit - but to Himself? In which case, there would be only one God, who is one Spirit (as Jesus and the Apostles all claimed)? 1 Corinthians 12:11,13 KJV But all these worketh that *_one and the selfsame Spirit,_* dividing to every man severally as he will. [13] For *_by one Spirit are we all baptized_* … *_and have been all made to drink into one Spirit._* 2 Corinthians 3:17 KJV Now *_the Lord is that Spirit:_* …

I love your teaching, I have a question tho, How do I get my loved ones who are still in the word of faith deception, to really Think about what they are doing when they Tell the Holy Spirit to do this or do that, or even "Come NOW" And how disrespectful it is to refer to the Holy Spirit as just holy spirit like they are on a first name basis, They don't talk to me much now, because I have become the enemy trying to show them the Truth, but as much as that hurts me, it hurts me so much more to hear the constant blasphemy of our Precious Trinity, Please help, I need to be ready when the Lord opens that door again, Thank you and thank you for your ministry.

I have a question. I'm coming out of the hyper-charismatic movement. My friends have not. I've been researching false doctrines in the Bible and listening to podcasts like this to help me. I called a friend about a situation I was struggling with, and she told me to stop reading, and just sit quietly and wait for an answer from God. All this to ask if "waiting" for revelation from the Holy Spirit is different from asking for revelation while I'm reading the Bible. I hope this makes sense. Thank you.
@carolberubee
@carolberubee 10 ай бұрын
"Revelation" would be new information not in the Bible; "illumination" would be the Spirit teaching you what the Bible already says. Far from stopping reading, we need to do the opposite: we need to keep reading His Word and ask God for illumination. If the situation you're struggling with is "spiritual" or "moral," we have the clear teaching of Scripture. If the situation is more like making a decision of what car to buy or what job to take, you can choose whatever you want.

God, as a Trinity, expressed in a triune man called Adam, is an old wives tale - show me the Scripture with this image. God never calls Himself three who are one, He calls Himself TWO who are ONE. In the O.T., they are Almighty God and The Word of God, and in the N.T. they are Father and Son. In mankind, Scripture states His image is the male and female (He named them Adam), and with whom He immediately instituted a holy union called marriage, and made the TWO persons into ONE person, (which is His image, two who are one). Three in the marriage bed would defile it. Genesis 1:27 KJV *_So God created man in his own image,_* in the image of God created he him; *_male and female created he them._* Genesis 5:2 KJV *_Male and female created he them;_* and blessed them, *_and called their name Adam,_* in the day when they were created. Matthew 19:5 KJV And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: *_and they twain shall be one flesh?_* The holy union of the male and female (2 who are 1) birthed children of the flesh that has populated the earth. The Holy Union of the Father and Son (2 who are 1) gives new birth by their shared Spirit (Acts 2:33), and will fill the eternal Kingdom.

5:24 that is where the problem is at present, with the divine. Many think they are expressing the divine, when they are not, and the truth is a lot of it is divination. God moves through the divine and yes He is the divine, but at present, because the divine is being misused and abused its coming to an end and it ends, because many brought forth idolatry instead. God is moving through something else, fulfilling promises and it will remain unspoken at present, until the abuse and misuse and idolatry ends. Also Costi Hinn you need to repent, from one of your videos when you said about that you can't be sin free, Oh yes you can, through the remission of sins, of which you along with a lot of USA churches have neglected as well as around the world, when you don't believe God ends sin, you bring forth and impotent christianity and life. God is not impotent. God has always had me believe the impossible and we are not giving up on it, because God ends sin, Jesus came to the earth to end sin. God ends sin through the divine, and those that misused it and abused it. The divine is being laid down to rest, and its up to God if He ressurrects it or not. So none of it how it work will work now and that is why many freak out, because a shut down occurred. God ends sin and its that simple because He can.

What if I told you that God is Spirit and he gives us that which is Spirit which is of himself, and when he does it is now our Spirit and when that happens it is Christ in you the hope of glory? When that happens whereas we used to have only body and soul as a natural man, we now are a three part being of body, soul, and Spirit, and it is by this Spirit that God wants us to live by. Erroneous or true? I would say that it is true and what is it based on? Well if it is true it is based on the truth isn't it? It might not be the particular way or manner that some might want to hear the truth, but it's true none the less and by hearing the truth many people come to salvation. It might not be your version of the truth. It might not be the way you communicate truth, but it's nothing to go against is it? Isn't anything that is true of the truth? Well many will say that Satan uses truth but he is a liar. Yes he may use truth just as many people do, and be liars, but where did the truth come from if not the truth itself? I take it that anything that is true is of the truth. However it might be used wrongly. Some people have a right doctrine but do the wrong thing with it. That doesn't make the doctrine wrong, does it? And having right doctrine and promoting right doctrine doesn't necessarily make people right does it? We do have a high calling, don't we?

Sign #3: He wrongly states that OT believers were saved by grace through faith. Totally unscriptural! Sign #4: He doesn't recognise that The Holy Spirit dwells within you, when you ask for and receive him! He quotes the Scripture but doesn't recognise its meaning! He says "he is approachable" Nonsense! He is PART of you. He is approachable like your arm or your eye or your ear are approachable!
