This was a good video, Mike. The techniques you demonstrate here usually work really well. I appreciate you didn't try to BRIBE the horse like so many other trainers on youtube.

I should also add, there are more drastic solutions for horses that refuse to learn their lesson and get dangerous about it.

Hi! I live on a big ranch and my horse does not respond to anything. When we try to leave her friends she turns the other way. I try to tug the other way and circle her, but she starts to go off trail. On the way back home if I ask her to come to a complete stop she will rear to the point where she could flip. Please help it’s becoming a big problem and I’m loosing my confidence.

My horse bucks when I ask him to leave the area where the barn is. He just wants to walk around the barn. It’s hard because I’m only intermediate and it’s destroying my confidence. Any tips?

Good Afternoon, So to begin with I would really go over teaching to flex on a very soft rein and disengage his hips. That will stop the bucking. Then get to the root cause of the behavior issue which would be not wanting to leave the barn. So in this I would be doing lost of shoulder control along with the forward cue and making the time away from the barn short to begin with and then as time goes on you can make the time and distance away from the barn longer. All my full videos are on my members page at mikehugheshorsetraining.vhx.tv and you also get a 3 day free trail and you can cancel at any time. Every lesson is broken down into steps the horse can learn in a calm relaxed manner and each video is a step by step with easy to follow methods When you do subscribe also join my group page on facebook where you can post videos of you working with your horse, pictures and ask questions so I can help you more. Hope to see you there. Thank You Mike

thank you for this video. My mare is barn sour and I fear she will hurt me or herself. She spins, and backs up extremely quickly right back into the barn when I try to take her out.
