I love the way exercising compliments my skateboarding and I wanted to share a few exercises I do before a session sometimes. There is also a short before work session too.

I find it very helpful to do a dynamic warm up before i skate. So squats, skips. Mario jumps. High knees. Butt kickers. Then after i skate I like to do static stretches as a cool down. I avoid doing static stretches before skating because it can cause injuries and less force production
@jasonsmith3400 Жыл бұрын
This is a really important comment, even 3 years later. Static stretches should be done in a cool-down phase AFTER a workout (skateboarding included). Doing them before is a great way to injure yourself.
@imdurgesh9430 Жыл бұрын
@@jasonsmith3400 I did static stretches the other day before skating, my timing for tricks was so off and caught like 3 shinners in the session so I guess it is bad LOL

Man, i'm just a 26 year old brazilian guy. I know i'm still slightly far from calling me an old man. I was completely off of skateboarding for about three yars and it's been over a month that i set up a brand new skate and made a comeback. I've already learnd stuff i never did in the past (dropping in, bs boardslide on a rail, and many other tricks i've never landed before. I'm really pushing my limits now). I just wanna say that it doesn't matter if your channel's got no one million subscribers, your content is really relevant, straightforward, i can see you put so much love into doing it and you've got so many other things to do asides it. You speak and explain things so damn well too and you seem to be a very humble guy. Your videos have been inspiring me a lot to go out again and learn, improve and (of course) have fun. Fast twitch muscles get activated by heavy lifts. Still I don’t know exactly what muscles would be optimal for skating because it feels like it’s more of a ”feel” thing. What I see a lot of older skateboarders struggle with is mobility. I actually think 1 or 2 yoga sessions a week could actually help with keeping joints and the muscles more mobile at a older age. With that said, thank you for a great and inspiring channel.
@terratenientesalgo25115 жыл бұрын
my case was the oposite, i started to need more hours of skating than leg workout, so i slowly started to drop the leg day and skate more, and it worked at least for me, still have to stretch ofter though, and i can skate about 13 days 4/6 hours per day and get sore the 14th day. diet and water have a lot to do in that but also spacing more between tricks.

If you want to increase pop, balance and strength, do heavy squats for pop, hit your hamstrings hard with romanian deadlifts. That will help with scooping your deck...I have 540 flips easily because my hamstrings are strong...then hit your calves hard and that will help with your control overall. You'll be able to stop using your quads for all your skating...when you have strong calves is when your board control goes through to roof
