Hi I have two hybco fixtures and I use one to sharpen gun drills. These contraptions really are worth having. They sharpen taps, drills counter sinks and reamers. I have had them for decades and they keep working. Nice video. I have then on a B&S 13 and a Cincinnati #2. Nobody knows how to run them anymore other than old guys. I enjoyed your video. Keep them up.

Cool video, I have not seen many three flute drill sharpenings! I am wondering how a true three flute drill would sharpen as this is a non-center cutting drill. Looks to be in effect a reamer. I know they definitely make three flute carbide drills which center cut, so it would be interesting to see those resharpened. Or a HSS/HSCO/PM equivalent.

I`m a simple man - I see a 3 flute drill and i`m willing to check it out... There is nothing like a good 3 flute drill, except for a solid carbide 3 flute drill... Fucking nice! Best regards! Steuss

I always wondered how a 3 flute drill is sharpened, now I know. Do most 3 flute drills not have the center "chisel point" of common 2 flute drill bits? So they require a pilot hole to be drilled first? Thanks for the demonstration !

I can't speak for all multi flute drills, (Core drills) but in my experience, all of the three and four flute drills that I have worked on do have a center hole and do not have a chisel edge. Yes they do all need a pilot hole. Having said all that I am certain there are tools out there that I haven't seen. Thanks for watching!

Will that machine do surface grinding too?
@LappemountainlivingАй бұрын
Yes but it's nowhere near as good at it as a surface grinder

Howdy from Pennsylvania. Was there any radial relief or was it only axial? Thank you!

Howdy Pennsylvania! This was all axial relief. Thanks for watching!

@@Lappemountainliving I been messing around for hours trying to grind the end of a 1/2" drill bit. Can''t get the chisel point to form correctly. Does the axis of bit have to be at center of wheel? I've tried using the face of a standard wheel and also a cup wheel. Gimme a hint.....

If you're using a cam relieving fixture then I'm not surprised to hear that your chisel point is goofy. is it kind of S shaped? I've never managed to grind a proper chisel point using my cam reliving fixture

5C is Hardinge 5ST is a Stark collet. Exactly the same except for the slots. 5C has 3 ,ST has 4

In addition to my ST collets having four slots they also have a much, much longer work holding area than the 5C
