I appreciate the Sincerity with which you talked about trying to set a good example for people like myself who didn’t get formal training in machine shop tools. It would be easy for me to learn bad habits unknowingly and your efforts help keep me safe in my machinist journey

Really appreciate this content. Got a kolee couple years ago and the use of machine is a deep subject. Steve summers did some videos on his. Keep em coming!

Nice one! For the future: Inch sized taper pins are usually a taper of 1:48 (1/4 per foot) or 1.193489 deg. Metric taper pins are 1:50 or 1.14576 deg. Clock maker pins and die maker reamers can be lots of different angles.

I'm not quite following your procedure of loosening / tightening the lock nuts on the sensitive work head as you spin it. I'm assuming that the arbor is in a collet in the work head and a center on the tailstock. If they're not pointing at each other, there's "binding" on the tailstock center and when the lock nut is loosened off, the work head will swivel slightly into its "happy place" ? Never seen it done like that before.

You're exactly right. Thanks for watching!

Great, all these machines came from the factory Guards and possibly other safety devices 😉🇨🇦

I think I read somewhere that some reamers are deliberately made with unequal tooth spacing to reduce chatter. Rifle chambering reamers maybe?
@leofortey7561Ай бұрын
This is true for some. Same reason tire tread is uneven. Helps break harmonics.

I've seen it most often in chatter proof counter sinks. They are a bear to sharpen! Most tools are on index but you always have to be warry of the ones that aren't.
