David Mc D That doesn't make the scientific references pop up neither. And it wasn't the point at all. References is the point. And Paleo stuff lacks it.
@bobbarr6138 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to only KZbin? Because if so, I can see what you mean...but if you are actually interested in the science and not just criticizing Paleo/Primal living...I recommend you read one (or more) of Mark Sisson's books. Plenty of science. Plenty of studies. Plenty of common sense. Plenty of critiques on what is taken for fact today. To summarize the science in a very generic way...think about the human species. We are animals. And as animals we have been around for about 2 million years, starting with Homo Erectus?...I think. So take the amount of time agriculture has been present within the human species' lives...about 10,000 years. That's about .5% of our existence on the planet. 99.5% of our time here we have spent has hunter gatherers...and more importantly, evolving as such. Our genes simply haven't had time to evolve to adjust and handle nutrition/chemicals/etc. that are basically man-made. Not only is that science, if you step back and think about it, it seems like common sense. Look at people here in America for instance...we obviously aren't doing it right. Despite all the advances in medicine, medical technology, nutrition experts, health food, fitness centers, grocery stores...despite all that, the majority of us are overweight. I can go on and on, but really if you are actually interested in learning, the information is out there. Don't rely on youtube...most of the people on here are already informed and speak accordingly.
@Mikedun18 жыл бұрын
You can actually look up the studies on our own, 't, even if you don't have college/university access to the online scientific databases (e.g. ebsco, jstor, etc.). Just use google scholar and, for convenience, turn to the results sections (unless, of course, you are trained or interested in the methodological details of the study). For instance, here's a highly-cited recent study from a top nutrition science journal: www.nature.com/ejcn/journal/v69/n8/abs/ejcn201539a.html. You can also view the full text of the study here: www.nature.com/ejcn/journal/v69/n8/full/ejcn201539a.html.

Excellent critique to raise, Active. While 14 in each group (e.g. experimental and control) is certainly low in large-scale survey research, this is actually an experimental research design (not survey) where both groups' diets must be rigorously controlled. When you get into the large N studies, treatment fidelity becomes a major issue (i.e. deviation from the proscribed diet increases substantially as participants are added). You might gain statistical power (though not the p-values from this study are significant below the conventional

Sucking lactate out of the breast of another mammal is the most natural thing on earth. Boiling it, curdling it all serves to increase its status as a super food. Everybody knows Paleo man ate steak n cheese and drank from the unwashed breast of a mammoth. The only thing they used wild potatoes for was to throw at baby mammoths to protect the steady supply of milk. You know nothing Hank you vegan fool

The diet is about eating whole foods - animal proteins (meat and fish), vegetables, and fruit, in relatively low processed state (think grilled protein with a salad). Add in exercise (lifting heavy things, walking, running, etc) and outdoor activities you're 99% of the way there. Not sure what's so controversial about that.The only difference between this diet and what a conventional nutritious would advocate is the latter may recommend more grains and carbs, and the former isn't concerned with fat consumption.
