Yeah it seems this was a good blacktail season in general based on what we have heard from most people we have talked too.
@johnnash5118 Жыл бұрын
This was very representative of Coast Range Blacktail hunting, especially the last part where you fell in the brush and was grunting while trying to stand back up; I could relate, that's Coast Range payment to have the opportunity of hunting it. I found a good area around McGuire Reservoir in the Trask, it's mostly Rosie territory, but there's great habitat for Blacktails as well. I also hunt up the Molalla River corridor, where I got my young buck on the last day, not a half hour after leaving my vehicle. I just wish the shooters would respect the seasons and hold off in the morning and evening, it gets ridiculous hearing ARs and even .50 BMGs; but the deer are always there the next season, so they're strangely accustomed to it.

Not sure if I’d leave the gut pile in the creek nut nice buck and great country.
@InclineOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Maybe so. Creek is definitely an overstatement here though. Dry in the summer until the rain hit. “Bottom of the clearcut” would have been a more accurate description.

Awesome videos man, thank you for sharing. I just got stationed in Oregon and am trying to teach myself to hunt. I swear I am doing the things I see you doing but I have yet to see a deer or elk haha When you’re hunting these clear cut lands do you park a mile away and walk in? 500 yards? Do you immediately drop into the reprod or glass it from a distance first? I see lots of roads in the video so how are you avoiding all the road hunters I hear about? I’ve been looking for closed roads on motor vehicle use maps to try and get to some less pressured areas. Anyways. I know that’s a lot and I don’t expect you to take the time to help a stranger; but I’m plum stumped. Keep up the great work on the videos!

It really depends. We hunt a fair amount of state land and private timber company land. Some has drive-in access and some doesn’t. You just have to find the out of the way hidey holes. Blacktail hunting is as much about conditions and timing as it is location. Later in the season and changes in weather patterns help. And of course glass, glass, and glass some more. When you finally spot your first blacktail bucks white face you will be forever addicted.

Bro I can't wait to hunt! .223 rem or 270 win for white tail?

Personally out of those two options I would say the 270 for a bigger diameter bullet.

@@InclineOutdoorswould you recommend a 243 for deer hunting ? Planning my first trip for this upcoming year.!
@InclineOutdoors3 ай бұрын
@@realhustlin_ a 243 is certainly a capable and proven deer rifle. It is mostly about what do you feel comfortable with, and practicing out to common distances that your hunting area lends itself to. If you are buying new, I would tend to recommend one of the newer calibers like a 6.5 or 7PRC. The Buck killed on video in this episode was shot with a 280ai, which is an awesome round but a real pain to get ammo for unless you reload.

What area of Oregon? I live on the coast near siuslaw and spend alot of time in the woods. Never ever see deer, loads of elk though. Next season will be my first hunt and I'm gonna get an elk tag. Originally wanted my first animal to be a deer but since I haven't seen any signs of them I'm going with elk.
@InclineOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
We hunt a lot of units for blacktail, primarily the northwest area of the state. Im sure you will start seeing more as you spend more time in the woods. Find sign, feed, and does to put yourself in the zone.

@InclineOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Scouting the various map options online is a good start. Look for areas with clearcuts and older timber. There are great spots on public and private timber land.

is this a canned hunt or are you hunting public ground.
@InclineOutdoors2 ай бұрын
The majority of this hunt is on industrial timber land. Not “canned”. The timber companies own a significant amount of the land here in the PNW and have various access rules for people.
