I enjoy your channel. You present a variety of music related topics and make it interesting. Always polite and well spoken. Nice job as always. You did not sway me to jazz lol

Super cool! I kept waiting for you to break in to Mr. Sandman 😂

It does have that feel to it, but it is a very cool style and definitely deserves some practice time. I will start on Darrell's Blues Riffs; Jazz is just a bit too off the wall for me at the moment 😊.

Your lessons are always great. Easy to follow and it's nice to expand my playing, not just metal, alternative, and rock! I will practice these new licks on my Surf Green '57 AVRI, seems appropriate.

I have a question. Would a Squier Affinity Tele be a good start for a guitar to play jazz, blues, and rock?
@jxck33354 жыл бұрын
I am aware that you posted this comment a year ago and have probably forgot about it and/or already found an answer but Teles can play pretty much any genre you want because they’re freaking awesome

Anybody got some advice for fusion licks in A harmonic minor? I got some funky riffs and groovy rhythms but have no idea about how to play the leads
@TheMightyKingzuru3 жыл бұрын
Jazz licks unlike Blues licks, is that they make sense when played over the changes like ii-V-I. When played in isolation it's just blues.

Hi Darrell, always lovin' your channel. One of the best! I have a request: Is it possible to do a shootout between the following three All American Telecaster guitars: The Fender American Professional Telecaster, Fender American Special Telecaster, and Fender American Performer Series, I would like to see which one has a better overall versatility, and which one offers more bang for your buck. Thank you. Keep up the good work!!

Trying for 8th grade jazz bang, they only take 1 maybe 2 guitarist but my band teacher knows me well and there's only one other guitarist trying besides me

Is this kind of hard or do I suck? I start playing guitar a month and a half ago and found that, while I can play the first one, I don't have the rythm or technique

Great licks! I love jazz but much of it is so inaccessible to blues and rock guys .
@geetarislife28436 жыл бұрын
painfully true (from a blues rock guy)
@chromaticswing91996 жыл бұрын
Although I consider myself a jazz musician at this point, I agree. Understand that 99% of jazz is improvised on the spot, and a great album to start off is a Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. Find recordings you like, and you're on your way mate!
@Guitarplayer7246 жыл бұрын
I disagree, I think it’s only inaccessible if you don’t put forth the effort to learn it. Having said that, I’m too old and lazy to put forth the effort!
@chromaticswing91996 жыл бұрын
When I first got into jazz, I thought it sounded chaotic and structurally boring. I wanted to find the dramatic crescendos, cool time signature stuff, and awesome riffs. It was only until I found the beauty in improv did I began appreciating jazz

I'm still stuck on your Thinline Tele. How did you get a Finger board with Blocks. Never saw a Fender w/ that? Been searching. Did u do it??

I was in college in the late 70s, when the local bar had disco and country rock nights with very different people showing up. Green Grass and High Tides by the Outlaws is my favorite southern rock song for the guitar playing. Like Lynyrd Skynyrd, it really needs 2 lead guitars at the same time to do it well.

I'll never understand why everyone, even D'Angelico's own staff pronounce the name incorrectly. It's Italian, it's dan-gel-i-co, not dee-an-gel-i-co
