Love the minimal mom! I’ve been listening to her for a while.❤

Love these ideas! My boys are 5 and 3 and we have a daily habit that I call “see needs and meet them” where we run around the house looking for things that are out of place and put them away. I am upbeat about it and I model a fun, frenzied pace. Sometimes it is funny to see what random things are around our house and we laugh about how they even got there. Why is this spatula under the lego table??! Haha! Today, this carried over to real life when the boys were getting haircuts and the hairdresser dropped the comb on the floor on accident. My 5 year old ran over and picked it up to hand to her. When she thanked him, he said “you’re welcome! see needs and meet them!” 🥹😄😍🙌🏼

I've been working on getting kids involved in laundry. We don't divide up clothes but I've been more teaching them the different steps in the process--starting the machine, hanging up, taking the clothes in, sorting, folding. Because yes, with a family of five, there's a lot of clothes and more hands need to get involved in that job.

Please share more on your decluttering journey because this is where I am too! The magic basket is such a good idea and I wanna tackle toys next!

Love this!!! Thank you for the encouragement to get my kids involved in laundry. It's hard bc it's currently in the basement and the basement is gross, but I'm sure I could get them involved in putting clothes away. I don't know if anyone else struggles with the sorting/laundry taking over but something I recently did was: put a hamper on the first floor and two a laundry bag in it for things that need to be treated. Then for upstairs I got a cheap 3 sorted hamper for each of us have a place before a shower to put clothes in addition to the hampers in our rooms. It's not minimal by any means. But this has been helping me!

Your tips are great! My kids are six, four, and one year old. I definitely relate to feeling mentally overstimulated with the amount of kids items in the home. I am currently a stay at home homeschool mom, but back when I was working part time there were evenings when I would get home and my husband would have to leave for work and I would cry because of the amount of kids stuff that was all over the place. It wasn’t his fault or the kids’ fault. We just had so much stuff! I love the laundry ideas you gave and think I am going to teach my older two kids how to put away their own laundry. Our washer is down a flight of stairs in the garage, so it’s not safe for them to haul it down there on their own yet. 😅 We do have a magic bin of sorts in the living room, but it gets filled so fast every day. I just end up dumping it in their room and then having to sort through it at the end of the day. But I like the addition of having the items in the basket disappear if they are not claimed at the end of the day. 😂 Genius.

These were very useful tips. I have such trouble getting rid of things, even if we don't use them anymore. Thanks for sharing.

My little is just 6, and he helps me sort and put away his laundry. I also don't fold, and I invested in easy clean, quick dry shirts and bottoms that are also wrinkle resistant and upf, so he looks put together in a button up and khakis with minimal effort.

I laughed out loud when you said ..."at the end of the day if they haven't been removed then they...disappear." 😆 😼 That's too good! 😂

We do laundry and a movie. So once a week I sit with the kids with a movie on and I fold the laundry. It gives us a brain and body break while I sort laundry. If they need something before the laundry is done they can sort through the basket to find it but once a week we get it sorted. Then they take their piles to their room and in their cupboards. My kids are 3 and 6. My 6yo could possibly learn to use the machine now but we just got a new one after months of going to the laundromat so we'll see how we go. I've also been decluttering and selling on fb marketplace old stuff like puzzles my kids have out grown. It's helping our house AND our wallet, and I'm not even finished everything. But if there's anything unsold after Christmas I might just donate a lot of it. So we can start the new year, before school begins, fresh.

Hello from Michigan! I really resonated with this video, and appreciated your sense of humor as well as advice! My kids are young, and on top of homeschooling we are also homesteaders with a too-full social calendar. Oof! So glad I stumbled upon your channel (while folding laundry). You're doing a great job!

We gave up folding kids clothes. Now the 3yo can put away his own clothes, and we call it square. Made things way easier!

Thanks for the video. I relate :-) I find that culture really puts pressure on parents to be amazing at everything and have everything organized to help us feel stress free but really getting to these goals is so stressful, and, like you say, keeping it up! I have found that as I dished out responsibility to my daughter that I began to resent her actions more as she wouldn't complete the tasks or to my expectations and this has caused us to butt heads. The mental struggle is real tough. Sometimes less rules (just like less toys/clutter) can make a big difference than we expect. Best wishes xoxox

Watching this while realizing ive forgotten to put a load in the dryer right away not once but twice now. Its been unusually busy month for us and laundry has fallen to the waist side. You've shared great methods!

I think a magic basket is what I’m missing from my life… I will be implementing this! Also, I have given up folding laundry for my for kids, it is simply sorted and put away! Only rarely does something come out of the drawer that looks wrinkly, I spritz it down with Downey wrinkle releaser, and they’re good to go.

Yes! We totally went through a stage of no folding. Now I leave it up to my kids. Some do better than others. Ha!

This was definitely me wanting to throw out all the toys but then I remember that it keeps them busy and using their imagination. I just got rid of a bunch of small pieces that somehow randomly end up in the home it feels. Working on having less clutter by doing one even one cabinet or small section at a time.

Great tips!! Do you have your children do multiple loads? For example, whites, colors, jeans? Or does it all get dumped in together? I worry about that 😬
@ThisHomeschoolHouse2 ай бұрын
Nope. We very rarely seperate anything out. 🤪

I love this video! For your children who do their own laundry I have a question about stains. Do you have them do their own stain fighter or have you found a great detergent that is gentle enough for sensitive skin but takes out those stains? My kids play and eat rough so there's a lot of food stains and play stains such as paints and dirt Etc. Edited to say he is 7 1/2 years old.
@ThisHomeschoolHouse2 ай бұрын
To be honest, not really. Most of their clothes are play clothes and I don't fuss a lot about stains on those. If it's their nicer clothing, I have just a standard stain remover that I'll soak them in. Also, we typically hang our washing outside to dry here in New Zealand, and then sun does a fabulous job of removing stains all on its own. :)
