i think the conversation surrounding women at gyms isn’t fair when you’re only asking women with amazing bodies who fit the beauty standard LOL most of us who get starred at at the gym are not automatically assuming we’re being checked out, we get self conscious and uncomfortable.

Also I want to wear whatever and not have to think about the male gaze when i'm working out. I've been working out at an all women gym all of my life. And I love it. While before icks were more like genuinely icky behaviors or slight weird habits, or more personal things that you just dont like, but now its just like 'i get the ick when a guy stumbles', 'ew a guy not being able to lift that big whale gave me the ick'. Its just so weird and entitled, why is your perspective of everyone (men) so based around how they are perceived and the feeling of embarrassment or cringiness, and now, extremely unnattainable or uncontrollable things? let humans be humans.

Yesss, Claudia’s suggestion to Kate at the gym to go in a corner it’s so helpful… when I joined the gym it was a challenge for me because of that and as I was learning to use the machines, and going to a corner it was so helpful and try my best to focus, and now I don’t care if there’s a corner available. When I feel or see a creep staring, I learned to not show intimidated and go where there are other gym guys that you have seen before and know that are respectful and do the workout near them…. And that usually works, but I have thought that if it doesnt work (and hopefully that doesn’t happen) I’ll go to someone that works there

This has to be one of the most frustrating things to listen to about icks. The whole point is anything or everything can be an ick to a certain person. It depends on the person. Just because Kennedy hasn't been turned off by something doesn't mean it isn't an ick. The only things that aren't icks are widely socially inappropriate actions that is almost universally agreed upon such as having horrible hygiene. An ick for one person may not be for another person. It's about imagining how something could be an ick for someone else. Brandon is the only one who seems to have a mature and objective view on things and Claudia does seem to get it more or at least be more respectful about it during conversation. I've seen people say it before and I don't want to hate on anyone just an observation but Kennedy is so set in her views and refuses to listen to or even consider other peoples point of views or opinions. It's as if she doesn't consider for one second that she could be wrong. It's very polarizing and doesn't make for good discussion especially in a podcast.

Just to mention something that is pretty common in Europe regarding the conversation about female-only gyms. Over here, some gyms actually have a smaller section solely for women. Some gyms completely dedicate an entire private room, where men can't enter, that is reachable through doors. Other gyms simply dedicate an open section that is still visible to the general gym area. Many women still work out in the general area, but it is nice to have a separate space as well.

Didn't know how else to reach out to Claudia and her new puppy. Hope she reads this. I see you're throwing a ball down a hill. I would not recommend this. The fast running and quick stops are very hard on their developing cartilage and ligaments. I understand wanting to burn some energy and keep them active, but quick stops should be avoided, as they lead to joint issues and even ACL repair, just like in humans and athletes. They slam on the breaks and blow out their knees. I'm not sure at what ages it is safe to play like that, but I think it is even as long as 18 months. Don't take my word for it. Do your own research. I made this mistake with my first dog. I used to throw a frisbee across long distances, and she would run full speed and slam on the breaks. Blew out both of the ACLs as a young dog. If I had waited until her body was fully developed, this likely would not have happened.

For Brandon I want to weigh in on his gym theory. I’d consider myself an attractive woman. I’m 27, have DDs, and am a published magazine tattooed model. I bought an expensive home gym so that I don’t have to go to the gym anymore because it makes me so uncomfortable when people look at me. I have a fear of being perceived. And I don’t like when strangers look at me. I love to model because I enjoy photos of myself and I’m proud of my art and my body but I don’t like people I don’t know in real time staring at me. I just want my peace and to be left alone and it’s such a mental block to fear that every time I go to my public gym for classes or the cardio center and some specific machines, I know I’m going to have to talk to someone and I’d altogether rather not. The cute outfits are for me to motivate myself to look good and work out and also to be comfortable. I don’t want to wear a clingy baggy tee shirt and sweats to work out, heck no. That’s my comfy home wear haha. Leggings are the perfect clothes for the gym because they give mobility and are just the comfiest thing and cooling.
