PAUL WARREN, I'm not sure if that is called an Ostinato because yngwie is climbing up the scale by step which I'm not sure what violinist called this exercise. When climbing up a scale in note groupings of 3 is called something else in classical music. Try to do a Uli Roth Top 10 Habits licks

Tks for the vid Paul! Any tips for shifting between fragments/positions? At fast speeds what gets me are the transition from one position to the next. Sometimes I can resolve this by fingering choice, leaving the pink unused (for ascending) or first finger (for descending). In such case my hand doesn't really shift until the 2nd note. If I try to quick shift for the 1st note on the pattern the "timing" gets slightly off (not quick enough). lol which is why I love pedal licks!

There's no doubt the position shifts are the toughest part. Usually, the position shift is the last thing I tend to get down in a new pattern so that's not uncommon, I think. I'd like to see a video of exactly what's happening to your hands when you do the position shift. Maybe you could either email me one or send it through Patreon? Or if you just want to put it on a hidden youtube link- whatever works. I'd be happy to watch and see if I can see anything to help you.
