This channel has it. Perfect. You will have that Silver Play button as soon as the algo picks you up. I need more of what is in your brain. Keep making videos brother. PS: For future video ideas: How you take 3 or 4 of Nuno's best techniques and seamlessly integrate them into your own original solo should be an ongoing series (pillar) on your channel. You could cycle through all the great great players, but if you would also highlight your thought process on how you connect these legendary techniques with melodic interludes this would be ideal, for me at least. I can play fast, and I can play with feel, but I struggle composing the two into a beautiful solo. Finally, please keep sharing the tips and shortcuts you've discovered to solve picking, fretting, coordination difficulties within techniques. That stuff is gold.

Thanks so much! I do hope i get to place a silver play button with my whiskey collection! i take a fair amount of time composing those "final solos", i'm glad they get appreciated haha. First of all, excellent lesson. The way you break things down to a digestible form is the perfect way to get any guitar part up-to-tempo fairly quickly, and unfortunately it’s grossly under-taught in the guitar community. Secondly, what are you using for tone here? Sounds great man

only the thing at 10:38 how do you get that sound because you dont pick the strings if you tab both hands?.. I cant get good sound like that or do you still pick the strings like that between all that movement with fingertips?
@fulltimeguitar8 күн бұрын
nah there is no picking in this lick. coming down the lick, when changing strings, its a "hammer from nowhere" or a left hand tap. all the levels on each exercise are more or less the same just different speeds, watch and follow along with the slowest one, i hope you get it soon :)
@RobTackettCovers8 күн бұрын
You tap with your middle finger...I'm really not sure what finger I use when I tap...I think I switch my pick...which thinking about it, is adding something that might not need to be done...like adding a step that doesn't necessarily need to be in there...I need to do a conscious evaluation of what I do when I tap...hahaha!
@fulltimeguitar8 күн бұрын
Yeah this is something i forgot to mention: Nuno does a right hand tap with his first finger EVH style, i much prefer the modern style with the middle finger. for these licks, either will work tho :)

Guitarist like that aren’t inventing for themselves secret techniques to practice. It’s really just their natural dexterity between the left and right hands. They’re not really putting much effort or practice into the solo when it’s recorded at the studio. Anything that difficult would not be possible to perform during a live show.

I hear pick strokes on the first example (play with me). I'm all for creative solutions for the seemingly impossible, and you've come up with a good one... but don't think that's how he did it. Slow it down, you can hear it. All that aside, great vid man :)
@dwarkanathpramanik854510 күн бұрын
I could swear I hear the pick strokes to. And I too couldn't believe it for the longest time and don't want to take shortcuts. But after watching tons of videos of Nuno playing it and really watching his right hand I have to say that Doug is spot on. It's a combination of Nuno's muting, tone and probably a fairly light pick attack (to match the dynamics) that creates the illusion of more picking than actually is the case for such passages. Just to name another example, in the solo from Peacemaker Die he only picks every third note although it sounds like there's a lot more picking going on. So there is a ton of muted legato and hammer-ons from nowhere all over Nuno's playing. Especially when crossing from a higher to a lower string. There is one shape/pattern that he uses in Midnight Express, Money, Get the Funk Out, the outro solo from It's a Monster and the beginning of the Hip Today solo which is very helpful to unlocking some of his seemingly impossible licks. It's great that Doug is sharing this information and made an excellent good video. Thanks Doug!
