Scott, Huge thank you for this fantastic video! As a musician and beginning producer and mix engineer, I find your approach very good and compelling. I too feel that the artist and song must always be at the forefront and that I am responsible for enhancing everything overall - in the best sense, not putting "my personal stamp" on it just because I have certain technical capabilities. After all, it's not about me, but about the artist and the song. But to develop this fine sense, it certainly takes a lot of practice and experience. Love the high level thought process... HOWEVER lol, this is again missing the most pertinent information and truths. That being that the quality of the source material is what makes these track/songs sound so elegant. I use and love the CLA76 plug but that had ZERO to do with the beautiful vocal on this track. Again, omitting that they tracked this through a specific microphone to accentuate her voice, using a specific mic pre, through a specific compressor. Same for the rest of the arrangement. And yes, the plugs add little touches, but it's almost misleading to point to these as the reason this beautiful song sounds the way it does. It sounds this way because Scott had this same amazing vision and skill before he recorded a single note.
