Obviously this session would makes the body feel relaxed and make golf more enjoyable for some of us in early 60s. I'll do a couple of drills at the range soon.

Thanks Todd. I'm working on being more relaxed and eradicating tension. You're absolutely right that it kills freedom of movement and ruins the strike. The issue I struggle with is that I'll practice swing a couple of times, get relaxed and then, when I come to hit the ball, I tense up and try too hard. It rarely ends well. I tell myself it doesn't matter, it's only one shot, the worst that can happen is that I lose a ball, etc, but It's a difficult habit to shake. Any suggestions how I might stop myself from doing that?

Thanks for the video... I'm in the "experienced" age range and after years of not doing really much more than two-three rounds a year, have decided to get a bit more serious. Getting consistent contact is my problem. I have been fitted for clubs and so now it's building a consistent swing. Have felt that the "flex" in my lead arm and sway in the hips were part of the consistency issue... Hmmm, guess I'll have to take more videos of my swing...

I have issues with getting my hybrid more than a few feet above the ground to a straight line. Short of buying a new one, what do you recommend?

Man oh man can I ever relate to all.of those points. I was at the range yesterday and except for ball flight there was no difference significant in distance between 8,7,6&5 irons . 5 and 6 hybrid were also the same distance. I tried my 11 wood and that sucker launched! 7 wood and 5 woods also very similar to each other. Basically I could have the same game if I played with 7 rather than 14 clubs . I know the colder temperature and range balls make a difference but I should still have incremental gaps right?
@USGOLFTVshow Жыл бұрын
Yes, the cold weather will have some impact, however you should see some difference. Might be good to take the clubs in and have them check for lofts and lies.

@@USGOLFTVshow I've been thinking about that very thing. I've wondered if I should have some lessons to improve my swing first??

Drives me crazy when I hear a golf friend say "I didn't keep my head down" on every bad shot he hits. I guess it's the easiest explanation for some folks.

I have read "The Bad Lie" repeatedly and have hit balls several times ( it's winter here ) and I'm wondering what tip you have to get the wrist flexed instead of cupped heading to the top. Otherwise, I am now getting the setup properly and have hit some lovely solid high iron shots. Haven't tackled longer clubs yet, but do see how your VLS makes it a lot easier to square the club at impact.

watching videos of Tiger and Rory, that left arm is totally straight thru the entire swing. How else would you control the low point and make solid contact?
@USGOLFTVshow Жыл бұрын
Good question, for most golfers getting a proper pivot and weight to the lead foot at impact is the key to solid contact in my experience. Here is a good video to watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqmQeWekqbKWfdU

Proper bracing of the right knee should not restrict the hip turn. As the swing lengthens the right knee should straighten slightly allowing hips to turn. Never forced but in a relaxed motion.
@samme6010 Жыл бұрын
From all good samples, you really shift your weight and follow through ..is it the 4th key?
@USGOLFTVshow Жыл бұрын
Thank you. A proper pivot and shifting of weight is very important yes. I cover it in detail in my book, The Bad Lie. Amazon link here if interested www.badliegolfbook.com/

Why not rejoice in it? I'm in my 60s and I'm thankful I can still get out in the fresh air, enjoy the countryside and be active. If you're playing better than ever, even more reason to be happy about it. Many at our age cannot.
