Another suggestion are parrots of the poicephalus family. The larger ones (e.g. the Cape parrots and Jardin's parrots _can_ be loud, but usually aren't. And of cause the Meyer's Parrot, which can't get loud, even if it wants to. I have no idea, how expansive they are in the US, here in Europe they are affordable. Its so sad, that landshark is sick, hopefully she will recover soon!
@ParrotBliss2 жыл бұрын
The poicephalus family is hard to find here, and usually expensive. But I agree, their sound and disposition are fantastic. Yes, I'm taking the best care of her that I can (Land Shark)

Your last few videos have inspired me to buy myself a new indoor bird as a replacement for my little mate (a 14 y/o cinnamon-pied kakariki who died last July) for my birthday, next week. I haven't bought a parrot in 20 years, since all my birds are rescues, but I decided I missed him so much I'd get a new one. Found one just up the road for Aud $50, so I'm going to treat myself. Loving your videos, as always. xox

I have a quaker in an apartment and she does fine. Sometimes she's loud, but it's a few minutes a day. She's usually not a loud bird. That said, I guess it can vary. Still, she's super cuddly and worth it. 😂 ❤️

I think you could have a Quaker in an apartment, but some are loud. I want people to know it can be an issue, mine can be pretty loud at times. You are lucky yours does so well! What is her name?
@BIA_N2 жыл бұрын
@@ParrotBliss she screams sometimes, but it's not often. I'd say once or twice a day, and usually I can distract her from it by taking her to another room. It works most of the time. She's a green quaker. Her name is Cocota. We live in São Paulo, Brazil. 😊
@ParrotBliss2 жыл бұрын
@@BIA_N I love her name! São Paulo- how cool! Are parrots easy to find as pets there?
@BIA_N2 жыл бұрын
@@ParrotBliss it depends on the species. Because we have so many endemic species it's super regulated to avoid poaching. But you can easily find Amazons, macaws, caiques, all kinds of conures, green quakers (for some reason breeders don't breed the blue and yellow ones over here). The hardest ones to find are cockatoos. They are extremely expensive. (for example a Galah goes for 4000 dollars, a molucan for $20000 😱) But you can still find them if you are willing to pay.
@ParrotBliss2 жыл бұрын
@@BIA_N Fascinating - you do have A LOT of endemic species. Do you see them flying around? I’m glad they try to keep people from poaching, I hope it works. Yes, here Quakers come in a lot of colors and variations. I love my light blue, semi-spotted with a little grey guys. Right now we are lucky, we don’t have any parrot available, but a lot. However, they are expensive, although I’m impressed. $20,000 for a Moluccan? Wow!

Almost all the "good apartment parrot -videos" I've seen before have mentioned pionus as a good option, I was a bit surprised that you didn't... I'd like to know if you feel they would not be suitable for an apartment and if yes, why?

With over 50 species, it’s hard to generalize. Pyrrhura conures aren’t overall unless something is wrong or they are sick.

I have a question about my sun conure, we had bought him from home they didnt want him anymore, his 2.5 years old they had him since he was a baby, the problen we having with him is every time my husband leaves for work he will yell scream none stop i will try to disctract him but no matter what i do he will keep yelling and scream, also since the last 3 months we had him, he has been showing us signs of he was abused the past month I've noticed every time I wear long sweater and hoodie, he would fly to me start bitting , my clothes like he is very mad, and i've tried to take him off of me but the 2 times i tried pick him up he bite to the point i was bleeding, and also he seems to not want to get off my shouders every, I have so much trouble leaving my apt because he wont get off me we want to keep him because this little does desever to be love once in life anything we can to help him stop doing those things
