Self defense knives can be dull. They do more damage that way.
@stanleykowalsky

@@soundspire360 so are you saying a knife that cuts worse works better? That doesn’t make sense. Sounds like an excuse to be lazy and not keep your knife sharp.

@@stanleykowalsky he's right in a way, but mostly wrong. A toothy edge rips rather than slices cleanly, which may or may not do more damage. I used to carry a fully serrated Spyderco native for self defense, it was always razor sharp but the serrations could easily penetrate even thick fabric without having to use a thrusting/stabbing motion

M16-14ZLEK is a great knife and I would have it on my list above the Benchmade. Partial serrations, liner lock with safety, (very capable) strap cutter and glass breaker. I have a Bailout, but honestly, I'm not a huge fan. The blade centering is way off and almost touching on one side, the lock can be stiff, and if flipped open the lock will sometimes get stuck and I have to use 2 hands and the edge of a table to get the lock to slide back so I can fold it. Seriously disappointed for how much I paid for it, even sent it back and it came back only marginally better, centering still off and the lock still gets stuck. I love my Spyderco PM2 so much more than my Bailout.
