Hoppy you lost me when you said he’s a very good play caller. He’s been extremely mediocre in that regard. Neal is a great man and good leader of men. He’s not a winning football coach. Those of us that understand that are disappointed as well but we deserve more from this program.

play calling is fine, its player execution is the real issue to me, so why call something they can not execute?

Anyone who believes the play calling is good is obviously a fan of wide receiver screens on nearly half the plays after the scripted first drive.

WVU has experienced several 133 year lows in its history under Neal’s watch. Calling him good at anything is blatant media malpractice at this point. I know they have to tote the company line here but a lot of these takes can’t be taken seriously anymore

I know it's early, but man, I am loving how hard both the men's and women's basketball teams are playing!!! For the first time in what feels like an eternity... I have hope!! 😁. I had A LOT of hope for this football team before the season, Neal hyping them up only made me feel better about my 10-2 preseason prediction.... Weeeeeell, that kinda all fell apart somewhere along the line... 😞... Maybe they can win the bowl and at least pull off a winning season.. 🤙 Maybe next yr... 😐.. On to basketball season!! It’s ironic how the success of other WVU teams are having, especially those with new coaches, magnify the difficulty in staying with coaches like Brown whose overall performance would be considered poor. It’s not just about the Texas Tech game as being the deciding factor. Mens soccer is doing great. The men’s and women’s BBall team are playing well under new leadership. The baseball team has been inspiring. Women’s soccer is usually ranked. As fans we watch this and we see it unfold and the development or failure of teams is obvious when you watch it. It’s very unfortunate the we don’t see progress with the football program. Not just one blowout loss. But the last 6 seasons. It’s harder to be critical because coach is a good person. Unfortunately football funds a lot of other programs. Very tough decision for Wren.

Coach Brown seems like a great guy, the player's seem to really like him, and he has gotten some good recruiting classes. Seems like a guy you could have a beer and a few laughs with, but it's been six yrs of losing to teams that are beatable, a lot of the times in heart breaking fashion when we had chances and blew them! we would take the occasional ass whipping but for the most part his teams just can't get over the hump! I hate calling for a man's job... But there is only one way forward... 😐

At the time I am replying Neal B. has been fired. You post pnut was balanced and fair in my opinion. Some of the comments on here are a bit over-the-top in my opinion. I only recently came to the realization that it was time for a change. My friend that I attend games with has felt that way for much longer and perhaps he was right. But I very much agree with you on the qualities that Neal B possesses. I think he will be successful in the future because of those positive qualities.

As soon as Neal Brown went for it on 4th and 5 , you kick the field goal , or punt ! A good coach doesn't do that on the second series ! Then the 52 made field goal , really says there is your sign fans ! He gave them the momentum! Then when your QB throws 2 picks and fumbles , you pull him ! Not when it's your son playing ! No coach should think of a player as their own kid , period ! 6 years of these low standards isn't good enough ! Mr .Nice ! He isn't a good coach period ! No CJ , No Anderson again ! Fire Brown now !

I have no problem if they want to bring Neal back as coach next year. I could see after his second season that he was the wrong coach for WVU and would never be successful and I called for his firing back then and everyone thought I was crazy. Since then I have been dragged through four more seasons of mediocrity to the point I gave up on the schools willingness to push him out the door. I stopped driving up to Morgantown for annual football games once he became the coach and I will not attend another football game until they replace him if that ever happens.

Love this bball team. We have a guy at the top who is going to recruit and make WVU basketball relevant again. Not a knock on Huggins but man this offense creates wide open looks and actually have guys who can shoot and make free throws. If not this year they will be a constant in the Top 25.

It was a great stretch of WVU basketball, but the best stretch in the modern era remains and will forever be the 2010 Big East Tournament run. Da'Sean Butler transcended into godhood that tournament.

Guys…Please get back to being honest. I understand being the voice of Morgantown isn’t easy, we don’t expect you to bash Neal Brown, but face reality like the rest of us please. We Gave Neal Brown more than enough time, maybe the match just isn’t right even tho I just don’t think he can coach at this level and overcome the talent deficit. The only reason NB would be back next year is becuz we’re broke, THATS IT, his resume is All Time Bad, We’ve yet to be ranked in his time, we’re the definition of MEDIOCRITY and your not gonna convince anyone otherwise. He’s a terrible play caller, terrible recruiter, terrible game manager, he’s bland as can be, doesn’t embody WV in the slightest, it’s time to move on. The dream coach is out there, he will be coaching again, he’s a WV native, proven winner, proven recruiter, proven money maker, It’s now or never. Wren has hit it out the park on his 3 Hires, making this hire happen when solidify Wren as a WV legend FOREVER. We’re 1 Coach away from being a Ranked University in every single sport which brings in the money. Bring it back to reality 3 Guys, NB time is OVER

I agree with Rwaggle, listen how many times has he ran the same darn play with Gallagher on the end around on about the 3 rd play of the game, it never works, and the defense knows it coming. Pretty laughable. What is up with the receiver screen where the blockers just stand there and don’t block and of course it’s no gain. I’m glad it’s over. I’m sure if the announcer was honest he is glad too!

Greene double clutches the ball on most dropbacks. You wonder, can he see? Receivers covered? Not sure of himself? Doesnt matter now though.

Hoppy, I’ve been a huge fan of the podcast for a long time. But this has got stop. There is zero argument for Neal any more and that’s why he was fired. As far as his tenure at wvu goes, No he’s not a great play caller. No he’s not a good coach. No this game had nothing to do with his firing. He was already gone. Great man, great coach at Troy. Terrible every step of the way here. I get that you guys are much closer to the situation than most of us, but please, please represent the state of the program accurately in the future. It gets to a point where you really start to question motives when basic reality is being denied at every turn. “There is no war in ba sing se”
