I love how you teach it first and then follow it up with a live roll to see what it looks like in real time. 👍🏼

Thank god always found myself stuck in half guard, kept trying to get full guard. But now I can sweep from this position! Thanks!

Loved this! I tried the sweeps today at Open Mat, couldn’t pull them off but definitely made me more aware of how to get into better positions to set them up. Thanks for sharing this, great vid!

Hey Jedi, you make great videos that are super valuable even ~2 years later. As a no-stripe white belt, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

Great videos. What I like about them is how you show the actual execution of the moves in an actual roll. I will be working on these! Peace man

Great content and I really enjoyed your format for breaking down the move. I'm a short guy and definitely a fan of the half guard. I love using it to get into butterfly guard and x guard as well. Maybe you can do a butterfly guard breakdown next time. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Another way one might wind up in half guard: elbow escape from mount automatically puts you there.

Blue belt here; I always end up in half-guard through elbow escape, when opponent is on my top
@jsealejandro063 жыл бұрын
Usually when I end up in half guard is when they break my closed guard and they are super close to passing so I panic and go to half guard. I'm getting there less and less tho as I'm getting way better at going from closed to de la Riva and then X.

I tried this sweep every time I ended up in half guard but I kept messing it up. For some reason I remember you sitting up and I kept trying to figure it out but i failed you. After class I came home and watched the video again to see what I was doing wrong. Lol

Does the first sweep have a name? It can also be done the other direction, but I don’t know what that one called either 😂
