@tomawen, and @Strange&Sinister: In May, 2017, thru that Oct/Nov, I exclusively walked our local cemetaries, and forests, due to becoming Hitler death-camp thin, from 6 rounds of chemo.: Didn't want anyone to see my bony self, sadly. Strangely, I'm still here 😅; I'm a stage-4 cancer survivor. 🎉 My, now, late mate🕯, and myself, encountered what I think, was a talking ghost 🙃 (by the mausoleum) and a huge, talking red fox (sitting right next to my large, upright red-granite parent's gravestone) during two cemetary visits. Additionally, at that same cemetary, we encountered either heroin addicts, or, were they zombies (?) while walking around war memorials. They never said hello, and never looked at us; weird! No odd experiences at other cemetaries, only that one, above. Want to email you about these Wisconsin-cemetary experiences; saw your email, @StrangeandSinster, however, haven't typed to you, yet. Typed about them on Ghosts of America; a public true-storytelling area. Two woods-walk things happened, too; one, during late 1980s high-school year, and another, in same zone, in winter 2006. Safe on long woods hikes; (even at night). It's daytime cemetary walks that are disconcerting, at the local one, I typed about.

Having been born and raised in Wisconsin I am familiar with the stories about Avon Bottoms and Hell's Playground. My parents were both born in Brodhead and I've worked there as a bus driver and driver's ed instructor. I've known people who live in and near Avon and have heard accounts of what the legends are and some of the activity there. Another local legend about paranormal activity is near Evansville. having lived in wisconsin my whole life it’s super cool to hear all of these stories and legends! not to mention your videos are always very well put together. i’m from oshkosh, and though it’s not nearly as scary as some of the things you cover, since last year i’ve been seeing more and more strange circles made of branches suspended between trees in the woods near my house. first i only saw one near a farm field, but as time went on i would see more of them, and even archways built in the same style all near public walking paths. i even found a geocache in one 😂

Did you know about the Nellie Brace story? It was bitterly cold when I went there. I literally had to stop recording to prevent my hands from getting frostbit. It was weird because I went to the other location minutes away and it was fine, but I think because the cemetery is surrounded by open fields there was more wind. It was the day that arctic blast began.

I've felt that vibe out in the woods there too. What did you see?
@patrickmartinez13588 күн бұрын
@ hard to explain to be honest but I had 2 other people with me that saw it too, best I can describe was a bright ball of light that lit up the woods when it was pitch black out and it was like 2-3 flashes and I know for a fact it was not a trail cam lol cause it was at 2 different heights and 20 feet apart within seconds. So we all ran hopped in the truck and I saw lights behind the truck I thought it was another car coming so I pulled over and waited when I hit the end of Nelson and no car ever came. Just kinda unexplainable all I know is every hair on my body stood up. 😂
@StrangeandSinister17 күн бұрын
Wow, that's really weird. I saw something similar in the forest by Bachelors Grove Cemetery in Illinois. I made a video about the cemetery and told my story at the end. All three of us saw two floating balls of light that lasted seconds before vanishing. The lights illuminated the forest around it.

I grew up in Avon. So many scary stories. Even the house we lived in was crazy. Both my uncle and my brother used to see something like clowns in the trees from their window. They both claimed to have seen a portal appear in their room along an inward facing wall that led to outside. My uncle and him slept in the same room about 20 years apart. My Grandpa found a body on the land about 10-20 years ago. Also check out Scotch Hill Cemetery, just outside of Brodhead. Once I was walking there during the day, was looking at the grave of a newborn and then I got a bloody nose.

My friends and I used to drive around Avon Bottoms all the time when I was about 15-18. This is my first time hearing about the dog man stories honestly, but I do remember a time that we kept hearing this very strange yell coming from the woods while driving around. It sounded like it was always the same distance away no matter where we went and was always loud enough to be audible over the truck and music. It did freak us out a bit but we didn't linger on it too much, guess I can see why there would be a dog man legend
@StrangeandSinister17 күн бұрын

@markhollis72198 күн бұрын
Rivers and creeks in this area all have muddy bottoms, so the chances of finding any arrowheads are very slim. gotta go to Missouri or southern Illinois, where the rivers and creeks, have gravel bars and you can see thru the shallow, clear water. I use to walk the plowed fields in the avon bottoms and would find them after a good rain. and I always had my eye out for bigfoot to, lol.

@StrangeandSinister17 күн бұрын
Thank you for the observations. I went back and reviewed the timestamps you referenced and most of them are house lights in the distance and my flashlight reflecting off of granite gravestones. The distant lights next to the maintenance shed in the Avon Cemetery footage are from a farm house across the road. The distant lights in the Forest Hill Cemetery clips are from homes that line the edge of the cemetery. The entire cemetery is surrounded by homes. The faint light in the Avon Cemetery footage from 14:10 to 14:15 is probably just a reflection from a glossy gravestone, or from a light placed there by a family member, but I'm not sure. Thanks again for pointing all of this out.

As a matter of fact heading out to work just now I had a music speaker in my bag well, on it turns by itself I'm thinking okay it hit something and turned on BUT it shut off when I said really ? Then it turns back on and starts to pair itself to my phone 😂😂😂

In the 1980's I used to fish at the Bridge at the W Newark Rd Boat launch. I had to stop fishing there because, on 2 different occasions, a body was found floating in the water just South of the Bridge. I lived on Brandherm Rd and loved the Bottoms but really didn't want to witness something I wasn't meant to see, let alone snag a body.
@StrangeandSinister16 күн бұрын
I can see why you'd stop fishing there after that. I'm a fisherman too and wade fished a lot of creeks and rivers but luckily never witnessed anything like that while fishing. I hope I never do.

@StrangeandSinister17 күн бұрын
Yes, I'm actually planning on making a video when winter is over about a location on the flowage, but I don't want to spoil it. Is the story you're referring to about the bodies of natives washing out when the land was flooded to make the flowage?
@recordhuntertv99217 күн бұрын

@recordhuntertv99217 күн бұрын
@StrangeandSinister1 all of it took place from what I know on the making of the chippewa flowage. Connects 7 or 8 lakes now. And I seen the lumps or burial mounds on some of the islands and but haven't really look for the cemetery underwater

My fiance use to live there as a child. In 76 they moved there. Carey escaped prison, probation or found not guilty. Unsure but was free. Him and his mother use to visit her parents for coffee like once a week. He was developmentally disabled. Strange folks. Decades later he was charged with animal cruelity for 300 head of cattle. Dnr bought their land. Had many acres. Still have many old cars there. Cattle use to use some as bridges. Swampy area. A farmer lost a whole tractor to quick sand like mud. Bigfoot and dogman rumors have some truth. Do not wander off trials. And not possible to walk to 2 miles from (hells gate) parking area, on that trail but city folks over estimate. Seen weird barefoot tracks in march 500 yards from any road. Very strange! Child or woman size. Cold temps. Did not make sense! Many other strange things. Legit, scattered facts, wrong areas although close but true.
@StrangeandSinister18 күн бұрын
Interesting. Thank you for sharing this, and that is weird about the tracks you discovered. The woods definitely had an eerie vibe, even during the day. Well maybe not two miles but I walked all the way into that field at the end where the main trail/road ends. Very swampy and desolate area.

@@StrangeandSinister1 very weird vibes in area. She has so many strange stories. House she lived in was haunted. Her Dad was friendly with Brian Carey and his mom but her Mom warned her to stay away from them. Her Mom, Grandparents, Great Grandparents, aunts. uncles and cousins are buried there. But I have heard the dog man has been out behind the old manner in them woods but now it's been destroyed and the hospital place is there.

Thank you for the suggestion. I made a note of it. Is it known to be haunted?
@eddiehardt8 күн бұрын
@ I remember hearing about bodies washing up on the shores from the burial grounds after the valley was flooded. I’ve always had a strange feeling about the campground nearby growing up, too. Going fishing at the boat launches always had an eerie feeling even during the day. There’s also a lake within 30 minutes away where 2 little kids apparently got sucked into a spot that feeds into the springs of another lake. I don’t remember the name of that lake, but my parents would tell the story about it to my sister and I when we were kids. If you do go at night, just be extremely careful. There are quite a few large bears around there that didn’t fit in the traps they had. There’s also timber wolves and cougars in the area.
@eddiehardt8 күн бұрын
@ I replied to the wrong comment. This comment is about the Chippewa Flowage. As far as I know, the Pet Cemetery isn’t haunted, but I personally find it pretty creepy
@StrangeandSinister18 күн бұрын
Wow, that's sad if the stories about bodies being displaced from the flooding are true. Thank you. I've been going to northern Wisconsin every year since I was a kid and had a close encounter with a massive black bear once (luckily no cubs). I never saw a cougar up there but I know they're there. The place I want to film will be tricky to access but we'll see.

Do you Have any ghost stories around the Clark County area? I've heard of a tail about 3 bicyclists being killed by a truck driver passing over the Black River Bridge on cty trk N and the legend is that you can hear screams if you are around the area of the Bridge. Not sure it it's true, been there a few times and haven't heard anything. Not sure if the story is true or not.

There isn’t a play ground, it’s called hells playground because of the off road trails from trucks over the years. One of the mud holes on the trail is called hell’s hole because trucks get buried in it, I’ve seen trucks stuck for years.

Hell's Playground is noted in the paranormal book, Weird Wisconsin, which tells the haunted legend about the "playground", but thanks for the comment. I read somewhere about vehicles getting stuck in the mud back there too and that's why the entrance was barricaded off.
