The fact that Parker took 50% of everything Elvis ever made is enough to label him greedy and his motives not in Elvis’ best interest. Most managers work for 15-20% still to this day so taking half of everything should’ve been a crime. Parker was a habitual gambler who lost millions at Vegas and he nearly worked Elvis to death to pay off his debts. I think it’s pretty easy to determine that Parker didn’t care about Elvis, he cared only about what Elvis could make for him.

That's what I have been trying to tell people too. It's crazy that there are more people than you would think who defend the old con man, and some who actually blame Elvis because he let it happen. It's not that simple, and even if Elvis should have done something to stop the money grab by Colonel, it still doesn't excuse Colonel for doing it.

@@curtwright3102 And why didn't Elvis fire him ? Why did Elvis sign all those Parker contracts ?
@dougdickason
@dougdickason 3 жыл бұрын
@@tonbruins9217 that is the mystery isn't it. Why didn't he just fire him. We can only take educated guesses because we know, from comments Elvis made, that he knew Colonel was ripping him off (maybe not to the degree he was). It could be that Colonel had some kind of dirt on Elvis and used that as leverage on Elvis. I mean Elvis was with many women, and his relationship with Priscilla may have something to do with it. Also, Elvis' dad, Vernon, had his head so far up Colonels rear end, that any time Elvis tried to make a move to leave Colonel, Vernon would always say, "Son, maybe you need to calm down and rethink this, the Colonel knows everything and what will we do without him." Seriously though, Vernon always advised Elvis not to leave Colonel. Also, we know Elvis was loyal, almost to a fault and was grateful for the help Colonel did provide early on in his career. Heck he may have even thought that Colonel made him a star, not that there is any truth to that, but he may have thought it, as Elvis would often say someone was better than him, that he couldn't do this or that. Almost like his humbleness went to the level of almost self destructive thoughts or self sabotage in a way. But, many people bring up, well, Elvis didn't do anything about Colonel so he must have been happy with Colonel. I don't agree with that argument at all. We see people in all sorts of relationships that they shouldn't be in. Because Elvis didn't fire him is no reason to think he was happy with him. We know he was very unhappy about his career. The only time he was happy about his career was when on stage performing for his fans.

i dont know about that. i think he was always destined to die young. he had so many close calls in the years before 1977 during his rise in 1956 his plane almost crashed hence why he took a train or a tour bus every where before his fear of death went away, then another time filming a movie the breaks on the tour bus gave out and nearly went off a cliff but because of his experience as a truck driver he adverted disaster that day. then theres other health problems that happened and near overdoses so he really wasnt meant to be with us too long sad to say.

All I know is that the house has strong ghostly presence, that I remember feeling the minute my feet touch the floor inside the house. I was there on vacation with my husband. Who had leave time from the base we lived on. He's a U.S Marine. In the living room and the walkway, as well as the backyard. Is where I could feel it the most. And my husband said "oh here you go"! I don't know how you do that stuff," but it's shocking. Then the van took our group over to the Lisa Marie jet. This is where it got really bizarre. My husband and my son, who was only 5 or 6 years old, trailed the other tour group people on board the LM jet. And upon exiting I was behind my son and husband. And I was the last person to exit the plane. I paused to look back one last time. And while looking down at the steps to leave. I heard a voice say my name Clearly and deliberately. I then called out to my husband and ask l Did you hear that? And he answered rapidly by saying, "yes! I did, can we get the hell out of here! Trust me when I say it takes alot to rattle my Marine. But hearing Elvis say my name rattled my husband. And later I looked into my son's eyes and asked, what did you hear? He said someone called your name mommy. Now I've been an Elvis fan since my childhood, and loved watching all his movies, etc. And I know his voice. But what really stomped me. Is when I returned to visit my family who live eight miles from Graceland. And I stopped by pre school/ babysitting business near Graceland. And while telling an elderly employee what happened on the the Lisa Marie jet to me and my family. She looked me square in the eyes and said, " Honey, Elvis has been doing that kinda stuff to people on that plane for years." I was flabbergasted. And still to this day I can still hear him say my name and how clear it sounded. Unbelievable but it truly happened.

Vernon was brutalized in prison and was flogged so badly that he never took his shirt off in front of others again after he came back. He stayed bitter and impatient, but it was offset to an extent by his deep religious beliefs. He chain smoked and hero worshipped his son but only confronted him about money. He didn’t challenge the drugs. He was only 63 when he died. Not an old man. To an extent they all lived in a fool’s paradise until nature took its course for both of them, and woke the rest of us up too with a shock that we all still seem to feel to this day.

I'm 100 percent positive that Gladys was there watching over her boy and greeted him when he joined her. More and more we're recording videos because our phones are capturing things we can't see with the naked eye. The same thing can be said about sounds. Animals can see and hear things we can't. If everyone realized what happens when we're sound asleep we'd hire someone to watch over us while we slept.

I cant imagine the pain Vernon was in. Unbearable. Someday we can meet these folks in heaven. I came home from school and my mom was not making dinner. I went to her room where she was staring at the ceiling. She told me, Elvis died. I went to my room and stared at the ceiling too. Tears pouring down my face. Elvis was always there from before I was born and then watching movies all through elementary school. Like so many young women, he was my first male attraction. I felt deeply that I lost someone special. My dad ordered pizza for the rest of the family.

When Tom Parker first layed eyes on Elvis he didn't see a human man he seen a 6ft. Dollar bill . People say if it wasn't for this man Elvis wouldn't have made it . The truth is Elvis had loads of God given talent all he needed was a honest person to enter his life , Any big record company would have taken him on he had already developed his brand when Parker met him , The humongous amount of people had already started to follow him .It's one thing for a person to get you in the door but if you don't have the talent you're going no where.The only person in Elvis family who seen Parker for the crook he was, Was Gladys a mommy can spot evil a mile away when it comes to her children but she was out numbered by Elvis and Vernon, With Elvis being to young to sign his own contract. Parker payed people to watch out for anyone trying to get close to Elvis fearing someone else could take him to higher places . Elvis cousin Billy Smith said Parker asked him do he think Elvis would allow him to manage his money eliminating Vernon's job but he choose not to rock that boat. Gladys had passed on by this time . Elvis and his dad was very poor people with no business savvy and their biggest fear was becoming poor again if they let Parker go. Never realizing it was Elvis talent alone that kept everyone living the good life . Priscilla wouldn't have never been in Elvis's life if his mother was still alive her plans was to be in Germany with him as well , because her biggest fear was him getting hurt or in trouble June Juanico said she was very concern wanting to know her age because she said to her she didn't want him in trouble with any girl that was not old enough to date him. The Bible says money is the root of all evil , Elvis's life is living proof of that .Gladys Presley died at age 46 still a young woman who was so stressed and worried about her son's new found wealth , the government and society from all walks of life coming down on him him due to the way he sang, , danced and performed , feared women who was coming after him in huge droves of admiration unintentionally would end up harming or killing him , Also jealous boyfriends. My opinion the gov. interfering in his carreer a month before turning 23 pretty late age for draft especially in a time war was not going on.(Good on Elvis for refusing to perform for the military they took a man from making a mil the stress killed her quicker then any disease would have. He was such a generous person never forgetting where he'd come from the only person in his very poor family who had any money making sure everyone had a job ones who did and didn't was taken care of an oversized staff and many friends hanging on to later tell as they aged and continue to make money off his name just how many cars, homes, motor cycles , jewelery , horses , 1st class trips , clothes, weddings , hospital bills ,food among so many other things they received from a man who real money started coming in roughly around age 21 and within 21 years later at the young age of 42 he was dead by the hands of people who took an oath to do no harm to a humans life along with other leeches who lived to see their late seventies some early eighties who began to take care of themselves when Elvis could no longer do it for them. Red West could never had wrote a song or been in any movies if he didn't know Elvis Presley All these r people would have been unknown if Elvis never touched their lives , So sad he really in life bought friends because he was always a loner mocked and poked fun of until he became famous. Vernon knew this that is why he had such a problem with the many leeches that hung around his son . Because of what he had they treated him like a God and ultimately he payed a high cost to be the be the boss . Their was never any shame in Parker's game funeral or not it was always about what benefitted Parker. The only person who handled him in the end was Priscilla taking him to court and a judge letting him know just how wrong he treated his client he only had one because that one was worth 10 or more .Vernon died of a lonely heart short of two years after Elvis death again a young middle age man of 62 . The money unfortunately went on to privilege his daughter's life with drugs and heartaches she to this day suffers with pain over the loss of her son ,Elvis only grandson who unfortunately was going through things that was so painful he ended his life at age 27 . I pray to God for the Presley family , All who have passed on to continue to rest thier souls in peace and blessings and prayers for Lisa and her children and Ex husband to find a peace of mind and heart.

I once had to sttemd a business meeting in Nashville but being sn Elvis fan my co workers memtioned wanting to experience Gracelsnd so we rented a car and 9 of us drove. In one car to Memphis. I had a good friend who msnaged a hotel on East Brooks Rd. Next day. Graceland. One of my friends who liked Elvis's music but not necessarily a fan. She was also a religious person snd also fairly young,,! After visiting the Medication Garden. Anne came to me snd told me she felt Elvis:s presence like he was there. I couldnt believe it She became a fan flowing that experience. Buying his gospel to start with. Another time I was at Elvis's grave at the Candle light ceremony jusy at his site and I hrard whatb sounded like a whooshing sound. Turned out to be Rising Stsr looking over Elvis's grave At NITE! I coukdnt believe my eyes. Rising Star died that year as if he was saying "goodnye to his loving master or maybe. "hello I'll be seeing you soon These are 2 ,events that will live with me forever. Sorry to go on but I had to relate these 2 ,expetiences considerimg this sunject we're referring to. God .bless and RIP Elvis Presley. Memories forever. One last note. If anyone should watch the video. "Elvis Presley's Gracelanf w/Priscilla ,1984." That.video ends at the Candle light ceremony and it ends on MY FACE in front of his grave whike Bill Medley is simging "Old Friend". Another coincidence. I didnt know umtil I returned smd a friend told me she couldnt believe she saw me in this. I now have that video. A friiend got it for me. Ok. End of my unbelievable experiences. All very real.

I think parker approached Vernon on that particular days out of pure greed and selfishness, he knew Vernon was emotionally vonrable and he pounced on him at the right time for parker, knowing it was the wrong time for Vernon. Vernon was in no fit state to sign anything, but parker wanted that last piece of Elvis. He took so much away from Elvis when he was alive yet it wasn't enough. Even after Elvis died he still wanted more, yes he promoted Elvis and got him a lot of publicity and bought Elvis fame and fortune, although to be honest Elvis⁶ already had it all, he just didn't realise it then but at what cost, he pushed and pushed Elvis to they extent where he was physically drained, he kept trying to give us so much more than he had already. No entertainer past or present has given there fans was Elvis gave us, his heart, his sole and in the end his life

He saw the commercial value of his relationship with Elvis with his talent and likeness and exploited every facet to the fullest. Thanks for that eerie video David. Actually , that was very interesting. On one of my visits to Graceland back in late 80’s, I too, felt sort of a presence walking down to the basement, it would be hard to explain. Also, I believe that when Elvis recorded ‘your the devil in disguise’..... it was a dedication song to Colonel Tom Parker, he may have helped Elvis in the 50’s , yes! But , by the end of 70’s I did not appreciate his mentality and management tactics, especially when it came down to Elvis and his well being. It was all about money, ⚡️👍- -TCB Frankie’Elvis’

I agree and I believe Bob Joyce could possibly be Elvis. Also if you have seen the new Elvis movie; they show is draft letter with his middle name spelled Aron(which is the correct spelling) at the end of the movie they display his name along with his birth and death date. His name is spelled Elvis Aaron Presley then…

I think the Colonel was 70% of the reason Elvis died at such a young age. Due to the fact the Colonel had pushed Elvis to his limits doing almost 4 shows everyday in Vegas etc. Elvis’ schedule was unbelievable, the Colonel should have never had done that to Elvis. I also think when his mother died that also affected him still throughout the 70s because of how close they were. I think if the Colonel wouldn’t have pushed Elvis i think he’d still be alive or would have at least lived longer.

@Loretta Dinapoli of course I totally agree. When I heard what Tom Hanks had said about his dinner with Priscilla, and what she said about Colonel, my heart sank and I got a sick feeling. It's interesting that she is loyal to him still to this day, and she has not been loyal to Elvis after death. The reason half of the negative content about Elvis is out there, is because of Priscilla and her dragging him through the mud. The whole 5 years, from the moment she walked out on Elvis, until the day he died, she never publicly said one negative thing about him. After he died, she about couldn't contain herself, she couldn't wait to start throwing shots at Elvis. Really sad and stomach turning.

This was awesome an awesome episode 🤩thank u 😋. I personally believe that a person's energy remains after the body is long gone and shows up to say hello in little ways here and there. I appreciate Nancy for acknowledging Gladys " hello" that was really kind of her .my question being Couldn't Vernon have of disputed the legality of those papers because of the timing of the signature? Clearly he was under emotional duress ,😲🤬his sons funeral for God sake what a classless move .

I bought Uncle Vester Presley's Book, years ago. The Tupelo Years, move to Memphis :) :) I bought Uncle Vester Presley's and Cook/Maid-Nancy Rooks' book; The Presley Cookbook :) :) I bought Nancy Rooks Book; You get to know Aunt Delta and Grandma Minnie Mae Hood-Presley, and the pets Elvis had, much of THE FUN, Elvis and [the guys]--BACK STABBERS had at Graceland. I bought Jerry Hopkins 1970-71 book, years ago when in High School. "INFORMATIVE"; [smiling] much of the info has come TRUE, through the years :) :) :) Those three books from Elvis' immediate family members WHO WERE THERE WITH ELVIS THROUGH THE YEARS, I feel are the ONLY WORTH WHILE books to buy and keep RE-READING :) :) :) There was STUFF out there about EVIL, PSYCHOPATH, Parker, back in the 1970's. HE never Applied for U.S. Citizenship? ? "W H Y", wasn't Parker ARRESTED and DEPORTED BACK to HIS "country"? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? "HOW"? Did he EVER get a CHANCE to join U.S. Military WITHOUT PROPER DOCUMENTATIONS OF U.S. CITIZENSHIP? ? ? ? Elvis would have been RID OF HIM at any time? ? ? ? ? The ARGUMENTS in 1968-69-?70? between Elvis and Parker about the 1968 Comeback TV Special that was to be a X-mas TV Show like Bing Crosby :( :( John Wayne's Movie, TRUE GRIT, the Texas Ranger part was written for Elvis based on his character in Charro. Elvis made ?THREE? Movies a year? ? BULL. Elvis would have been WONDERFUL in that picture! ! Parker said Elvis had done 3 movies in 68/69--DONE! ! Elvis HAS TO BE "S T A R" IN EVERY MOVIE. Parker was selfish, absolutely! He also later took advantage of Priscilla. But he got his in the end. The courts later came after Parker. Sueing him for the 50% he'd made off Elvis for many many years. The judge knew that managers made nowhere near that kind of money--so he deduced that Parker was taking advantage of "the boy".

Prissy was no Angel either, She made a beeline to Vernon's hospital room getting him to sign away everything to her. So, sadly Vernon got conned by both "Tom Parker" and by Prissy. which a lot of ppl seem to think that yes, Both "Parker" and Prissy were indeed in cahoots with each other at least at some point.

The Presley's were the most loved family, they were so sincere, their kindness and generosity went beyond anything you've ever seen, Elvis made his family yours as well, I'm still a huge fan to this day, his voice had 7 octaves, his dream was for everyone to come together in the name of God, he believed we are all brothers and sisters as it is taught in the Bible...........

@@earlwalker4668 it really wasn't Priscilla who was behind the lawsuit, it had to do with (the then minor) Lisa Marie, whos interests were being looked into by the courts, and the court appointed ad advocate for Lisa to investigate the business dealing between Elvis and Colonel. When the court appointed advocate gave his findings to the judge, the judge was shocked by how much money Colonel was taking. The judge ordered the deals (contracts) between Colonel and Elvis to be terminated. The crazy thing is(there was an actual lawsuit involving RCA, Elvis, and Colonel at the same time that was settled) Pruscilla told the judge that they wanted to continue doing business with Colonel. Can you believe that after the judge was shocked by the amount of money Colonel had taken from her ex husband and had voided the contracts, that she would have any thoughts of continuing a business relationship. I think this might be a big insight to Priscilla and Colonels connection, going all the way back to even Elvis marrying Priscilla, after Colonel had pressured him that that was what he must do. I'm guessing they had similar ideas about wanting to control Elvis and the people who had access to him.
