Thank you very much for your video. This custom setting hold is great for me as sport photographer, as I can change for one shot with "Longer exposure time for dragging with blurred background" 👍🙂

Any idea why the top screen display on the Z9 is so dim? (compared to the Z7). Can it be made brighter? (I can't see how).

Hello, on my old D3s camera, I use one of the function buttons to change the SHOOT mode, you just need to press and and scroll all Shooting modes A, B, C and D and you can preset any of these modes. It’s very useful.

The recall shooting function is great, but there's a problem with it: shooting sports, I want to switch from 30fps (action) to single release mode when popping off close faces, equipment, etc. (non-action). When you're in 30fps, the release mode doesn't change. If you're in continuous H or L (regardless of the fps), it works well, just not when you're in 30fps. I reported this as a bug to NPS. I already use the release mode-dial combo to switch back and forth, but I periodically forget to go from S to Continuous. The recall hold would be perfect for this. If it worked.

Yeah that sounds like bug for sure. Or it could be one of those classic Nikon quirks that show up every once in while. But it seems to me this would be literarily one of the best uses of this feature... hopefully it gets fixed.

I have a problem: I use Nikon Z9 with NIKKOR Z 100-400MM F/4.5-5.6 VR S lens. Firmware C 2.00 LF 1.10. Custom settings: a1 AF-C Focus; a6 AF activation Off(with out-of-focus release disabled). The shutter release priority is set at Focus. When the lens is set at 400 mm, the AF-ON and Shutter are pressed concurrently. The camera won't fire. But when the lens is set at 100 mm, the camera can fire. Please TRY with yours and see if you have the same problem. If you do have the same problem, please report to the Nikon at your country!

It’s interesting that you have found the Z9 joystick “on the slow side”. I actually really like the speed of my Z7ii joystick compared to all the Sony, Canon, and Panasonic cameras I’ve previously owned,
@yerttttt2 жыл бұрын
My z7 is dreadfully slow as well, but my buddies is responsive as heck. I think its a manufacturing error. We have the same camera and firmware.
@chrisbaudeg32332 жыл бұрын
Nikon needs to fix this (so I think). If on the [Recall shooting function (hold)], and you chimp to check, it goes back to the non (hold) setting. The rreal soluion is to assign the settings in a U1-U4 dial 'a la' Oly M1X. I read too many "workarounds", or 'It works, but it's annoying".

Just for your information: the Z7II already counted down extended shutter speeds on the top display.

Both in Bulb and Time? My Z7 doesn't do this and I would really love this feature.
@guyyowell85472 жыл бұрын
@@Kevin-qb4rn I’m not sure about Bulb and Timer mode, but definitely when you use extended shutter speeds, it counts down the time on the top display. This is for the Z7 II. I just sold my Z7 II and got a second Z9.

It was somewhat helpful, although you went way too fast! Remember the folks that come here to watch this are new to the Z9. I sat down with my Z9 and my iPad to watch the video and had to repeatedly stop the vid and slide back to where I lost you. Your info however was extremely helpful and useful, just watch your speed. Thanks and 73, Tom KC3QAC

Nikon seems to have taken a page out of Fujifilm’s Kaizen textbook with the number of meaningful firmware upgrades to their Z system cameras. Canon and Sony need to pay more attention to this. I’m not regretting my switch to Nikon one iota.
