Each year, the scripts seem for the present year, I always watch the series like it's my first time. It never ceases to amaze me. Actually, I've learned a great deal of how governments around the world function and that what we read or hear is not what is really happening. I can't thank you enough for this both entertaining and educational series.

No matter how often I watch YM or YPM, I laugh. Best show ever on British TV. No political correctness, just intelligent humour
@justin.booth. Жыл бұрын
On the contrary this is probably the most politically correct show ever put on British television
@lachyt5247 Жыл бұрын
@@justin.booth. In a sense you're both correct. It is important to distinguish between modern and traditional meanings of politically correct. Traditional PC is negatively geared - i.e., it involves omitting language and topics people may find offensive. YM is certainly very PC in this sense. Modern PC is positively geared - i.e., it involves actively including language and topics designed to pander to people. YM is not PC in this sense.

Please stop with real politic enjoy the show for what it stands for brilliant comedy with fantastic writing and actors all of them. There are other platforms for this.
@itskdog Жыл бұрын
The best comedy lies in reality. YM & YPM were inspired by information from moles inside parliament and the civil service. It is funny, yes, but also educational as to how politics really works. Thatcher was said to be a big fan and made sure to tape every episode so she wouldn't miss one.

One of Rees Mogg's better speeches.
@Boa_Omega6 ай бұрын
There were two advisors to the show. Worked in both a Labour govt and Heath's tory govt. The point is Hacker could fit in either party right wing of labour or left wing of the tories. Mainly economics that he understands. Well as much as anyone could expect from someone burdened with an education from The London School of Economics. As far as politics its mostly just sloganeering and vague emotion. Loves his country. Loves Europe. Vain, people pleaser with a pleasant public demeanour who can memorize and read good speeches. Competent reader of complex documents. But no firm opinions about anything concrete and lacking the moral courage to stand up for anything that risks his career. Probably wins his election and if high enough in the polls after 4 years can call another and win that before wearing out his welcome. Resign the office to take some post in Brussels before retiring to run a college in his golden years. Stable but boring and forgettable.
