@@wonders.6334 In light of the rest of the Bible, when the Bible says in Rev 3:20 "If anyone hears my voice" we have to ask who is able to spiritually hear and receive the Gospel? The Arminian says anyone can. The Bible says in Luke 8 that the gospel "seed" that falls in various unprepared soils has no effectual effect. But the seed that falls "in the good ground" has "a beautiful and virtuous heart" and thus hears the word, receives it, and holds it tightly, resulting in spiritual growth and fruit. This "good" ground is a resurrected spirit that is a new sinless creation that seeks God, loves God, receives the truth, and obeys. This is something only God does and is a prerequisite for genuine belief and faith. If we follow God's logic further, we'll find that those who believe were chosen by God the Father before the world's foundation to be made righteous through the sacrificial death of the Son of God who died for them and ultimately as adopted children to be glorified with Christ and receive all the blessings as heirs of the promise, and receive eternal life. None of that is our doing, it is all the work of God. Whenever anyone believes or shows forth genuine faith in the Bible, it is because their spirit was made alive (as opposed to the spirit of unregenerate man that is dead to good works and in rebellion against God).

@Jackhandless I'm a Christian as well, who believes the best exposition of scripture is Calvinism, which is a system of interpreting the scripture. So basically a Calvinist is some who believes that the acronym TULIP best codifies the essentials of the faith. I'm not saved by being a Calvinist, I'm saved by God who chose me from before the foundation of the world, who caused me to be born again and gave me the gift of faith and repentance to I could believe and be saved. 100% God's mercy and grace. My part in it... ZERO!!! And don't diminish the difference between Calvinism and Arminianism. They are VERY different , two different ways of understanding salvation. One Is God centered and ALL grace, one is man centered and a mix of grace and I was smart enough to make the right choice. Calvinist: I was born again in order to believe and repent. Arminiast: I believe and repent in order to be born again. Big difference.

Regeneration precedes faith. Most churches teach the opposite. They don’t believe God is sovereign. God’s grace is absolutely pure. Faith itself is a gift of God. No one can come to Christ unless the Father enables them. If you truly love Christ it’s because the Father has done a work in your soul. Praise God.
God calls us, gifts us with faith. What Jack calls sovereignty can be called free-will, and yes we can choose to say yes or no to Jesus’ offer of salvation. Calvinism is unbiblical and ghastly. I won’t be back to this channel.
@donmiller34723 сағат бұрын
Yes we have free will but not when it comes to choosing God. God makes the first move which is His effectual call. Our beloved Lord said in John 6 that no one can come to Me unless the Father enables them. Unless God the Father changes the disposition of your soul you will never come to Christ. We love Him because He first loved us. It’s a sovereign God that chooses, sadly if you don’t believe that then you really don’t believe God is sovereign. Do a good study of Romans 9.

Question can you explain the context when Jesus Christ himself says choose this day whom you shall serve?
@JordanRileyАй бұрын
Jesus didn't say that...Joshua did Joshua 24:15 is a favourite text for Christian families. It is for ours. Those who enter our house via the front door are confronted with the last words of this text. “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Words from the first part of this verse are popular too. “Choose (for yourselves) whom you will serve.” They are often used in outreach campaigns. The thought seems to be: people are free to choose to serve God or not. “The choice is yours: serve God or someone else.” However, is that what the text says? Selective quoting misrepresents Scripture. There’s the joke that a minister who disliked the Old Testament once preached on Matthew 22:40b (King James Version): “Hang all the law and the prophets.” That’s of course ridiculous. Yet, the same happens “choose this day.” Here’s the whole passage, Joshua 24:14-15 (NIV-1984). “Now fear the LORD and serve Him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt and serve the LORD. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” What’s the free choice here? It is not “God or someone else”. It is “Sumerian gods” or “Canaanite gods”. The gods of Egypt are mentioned earlier. One could argue that’s an option too. But the LORD is not an option like these others. In verse 14 we don’t find an invitation to choose for the LORD. Rather, we find a command: “Now fear the LORD and serve Him with all faithfulness.” There’s a free choice among many false gods only for those who reject the LORD. Quoting Joshua 24:15 as if it says “you are free to choose whether or not you will serve the LORD” is as inaccurate as that minister preaching on “hang all the law and the prophets”. All this is not to say that people do not choose for God. Joshua 24:22: “Then Joshua said: ‘You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen to serve the LORD.” What needs to be noted is that this choice is the response to the call to serve the LORD. It’s a response which exists by the grace of God (1John 4:19). The choice is not made freely, autonomously, but by the pleasant coercion of the Spirit. An outreach event should not end with “choose this day…”. We do better to follow the example of Joshua (and Christ and Peter and Paul and…): “Fear the LORD”, “Repent and believe

By contradiction, Jesus then describes the child of God in verse 21: But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God.

This is a conflict between Calvinism and Arminianism! People who think they chose Christ are people who have not studied the Scriptures. Some Christians might think they chose Christ, but when they study the Scriptures, they will understand when God, through the Holy Spirit, illuminates their mind that they were actually God's elect.
@romeyburgin7221Ай бұрын
@DanPilgreen That He even saves some shows His mercy and grace because we all deserve hell. As Paul says in Romans 8:29-30 "For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified." This is a doctrine we all wrestle with, but the Scriptures clearly teaches the nature of mankind in Romans 3:10-18 “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.” “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; in their paths are ruin and misery, and the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes."

Instead of just reading Bible verses to us, you need to explain, like JM explains. You are not answering the common questions. One of the most asked is… What’s the use in trying to live as God commands us to live, if we are not one of God’s chosen? I seriously don’t understand and I am in the word daily. So is the Bible saying we only have the desire to live as God commands us to live, only because we are saved by God? Are you saying that we are able to accept and believe in God, only because God has made us able to do so? I guess what I’m asking is how do we know we are one of God’s chosen? I’ve listened to JM’s sermons on predestination and Calvinism, but I still don’t understand. Does it mean I’m not saved, because I’m questioning if I’m actually saved? Help somebody!!
@andypietrowski69156 күн бұрын
Hey, I’d love to try to help you. You’re right it can be confusing because unfortunately most churches don’t teach this correctly. For starters - because of the Fall of Adam every one of us is dead in sin. We do NOT want God or anything to do with Him unless grace intervenes in our life. We LOVE our sin . I can certainly give you some scriptures to give you a better understanding but for now I’m trying to simplify. Anyway….because we are enemies of God by nature, Jesus tells us the only way anyone can come to Him is if The Father specifically draws that person. Without knowing you personally it would seem that if you are desiring Him and to turn from your sin, it is because God has chosen to have mercy on you and has caused you to be born again. Hope that helps!
@bobwood5146Ай бұрын
Where in scripture did you come up with the fact that a person who is born in Adam [In Adam all die Romans 5:12-21], a natural man [1 Corinthians 2:14] who is dead in trespasses and sin who "does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are FOOLISHNESS TO HIM and he CANNOT UNDERSTAND THEM, because they are SPIRITUALLY APPRAISED, has the desire or ability to choose or accept Jesus to be the Lord and Savor and Master of his life? Do you ever actually read what the scriptures say about this? How about John 1:13 or Acts 13:48. The problem is that few churches teach bible doctrine any more.

The Lord builds a bridge across a lake and stops half way and then He is waiting for people to finish the bridge on the other side and come across to be saved,, the Lord is just waiting for someone to finish the bridge so he can help the Lord to save him ie thats called WORKS.. we are saved by grace not works.. this teaching from this pastor is just made up theology..

He also quotes Billy Graham often, has obviously never cared about BG's false doctrine in his older years of saying he believed there were many ways to heaven etc. So bottom line is, Hibbs is lacking in discernment!
