YC!!! Please help me save my next upcoming shoot, what tube light did you use here in this video? The one you recommended. It's the perfect size and brightness and gives off the perfect glow! I checked your website and gear list, it's not on there. Ive bought ones before on Amazon and they were all disapointing and cheap. Please bro, I have this commercial editorial shoot for a jewelry company, I have models set up, locations set across Coney Island Brooklyn, and all I have for lighting is standard kelvin lighting stuff and their modifiers. That tube light is exactly what I am going for with the colors and tone for the environment.

I like tubes because the light source is a bit bigger, we also used an Aputure MC for some shots in this video too.

Great tips... That last one, editing structure... I always do but then guess what... Sometimes on the review the artist be like.. "yo put this clip in the 1st verse... n put this there yeah yeah..." n there goes the structure. lol but even then I still try to regulate it a way where there still a method to the madness.

@ycimaging, since you started filming this video at sunset, and it only got darker from then on, did you make camera adjustments to make up for the changing amount of available light, or did you compensate with the hand-held and/or ambient light? Or BOTH?

Really just adjusted camera settings and added light, the majority of the video was shot very shallow so I wanted to keep that aesthetic throughout.

Hey great channel. Do you have a video explaining how to film an instrument solo and sync it to the studio track? I need to get several different camera angles/shots of the person playing their instrument closeup, medium, wide shots. I’m filming solo and will have to film multiple clips and then edit/sync them together with the studio track. Do you have any ideas on how to do that? Thanks!

Usually, you can just auto sync it with the mastered track in your editor of choice. The cheat code is creating a multi cam sequence.

I don’t have much experience doing acoustic performances, but I think I have one coming up in the near future.

@@YCImaging it’s actually for a little commercial so it will be a short bass solo. I think I’m going to take a wide shot all the way through and then get the closeups after with the studio try playing the whole time and the bass player unplugged, then sync it up in post with the studio track. We’ll see how it goes. I’m guessing it’s the same process for singing as it is for instrumental.

@@pizzomedia7261 I’m assuming that you are going to have an actual produced track for the commercial…then have your bass player plugged in so the camera will pick up that audio…if you don’t do that you will not have any reference to sync the video to the track. Then after you can mute or delete the audio from the shoot and only use the produced track for the final. I would do a bunch of takes this way…I would also use a GoPro mounted to the head of the bass looking down the fretboard to catch the finger action…then move that GoPro to the below the bridge of the bass and do another take to catch the other hand’s “plucking” action.

l am about to shoot my first music video and l still think the best thing to do is to have many shots at least 150 to 180 shots because thats what the major labels do, their music video is very snappy with a lot of scenes but inexperienced directors just use few scenes making it boring so even thogh you dont have many locations just shoot from different angles and add photos like front back side hands shoe top, 360 effects slow motion speed fast forwarding, drama, lifestyle, news pain, just write a bunch of things and use it in your music video, if you are the one directing it, and editing it, you might get the gist
