3 Ingredient Easy Teriyaki Sauce Recipe

This is the best easy Teriyaki Sauce! It takes just 10 minutes and is crazy easy & simple to make it homemade.

This is an Americanized version of teriyaki sauce that is perfect if you don't have mirin or sake at home but still want to whip up something delicious! It also is perfect as a glaze to brush on grilled meats!

This recipe starts with a 3 ingredient base. It's useable at that point if the pantry is bare, especially on grilled meats, but adding in additional flavor boosters helps bring this sauce to perfection!
Ingredients
1/4 cup soy sauce, (I like reduced sodium best!)
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
4-5 tablespoons honey, to taste
Additional Flavor Boosters
2-4 tablespoons rice vinegar, to taste
4 tablespoons crushed pineapple
2 tablespoons pineapple juice
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon green onions
Instructions
1️⃣ In a small pot whisk soy sauce, water, and cornstarch together until smooth. Add any of the optional additional ingredients you are using (vinegar, garlic, ginger, etc) .
2️⃣ Heat over medium-high heat until warm and then whisk in honey until dissolved.
3️⃣ Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and whisk constantly until desired thickness is reached. Do not leave unattended it thickens quickly once it gets boiling and will rapidly burn.
4️⃣ Taste and adjust as desired. If too thick, thin with additional water to reach desired consistency.

question- if i were to use baking powder (not baking soda) instead of corn starch would it work?

If you do not have cornstarch you can just boil it down longer to thicken it. Do not use baking soda.
