@@lightningfrom9396 I always liked that box of crayons look. It's not like it is fake. We just take advantage of the natural flouresence. If it was fake or genetically modified like glofish then yeah I would be opposed to it.

I was thinking in my mind that the part of the leather that was coming out of the water looked dirty and then your wife said some about it, and I about lost it. She is such a keeper. Nothing better than a woman with a dirty mind.

Budget nano tanks have a special place in my heart, reminds me of the “good ol days” when things are simpler and a lot of things are a new experience. I miss it, may have to set up a small simple cube tank at some point. 😊

Outside of auto top off and the mp40 is there no other filtration at all? Wow what a masterpiece 😊 I have a rimless Landen 23 gallon (?) And I want to try this. Hope I can make it work as beautifully as yours is working out! I'm obsessed with mangroves and currently have 6 growing in a few of my freshwater planted tanks, I appreciate the tip on slowly transitioning them into saltwater and not breaking their roots.

I'd say! Only down side to soft coral is how much of a pain it is to attach the frags to plugs. Otherwise I probably would have been chopping them up already, lol.

Great video. Beautiful tank. With the corals so close to the glass, how do you keep the glass so clean? I don't see any Coraline or film algae.
@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
I use the Flipper magnetic scraper which has a very low profile, I'm able to gently slip in-between the coral (mainly the Yellow Fiji Leather) and glass and do a few passes without distressing the coral too much. I wouldn't dare to try this if it's a coral with hard skeleton. I do have some intense coraline algae growth in the back & back corners.. they have gotten too thick for a magnetic scraper to handle.

Hey :) so i think you should somehow cover up most of the tank (better then nothing) even though you clownies arent jumping and aint getting scared that easely. It will always happen sooner or later, and it would be such a shame if one of these animals painfully dies in such a preventable death. So no need to 100 percent cover the top but at least most of it up to the mangrove. I really hope that u prevent the death of them :( (sorry if some of the sentences aint right im from Germany) Love u Content :)
@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
No worries, your English is better than mine. 😉 Suggestion understood, I’ll think about adding a half lid on there. I may actually have a glass lid that may work, if I could scorch and break off part of the glass.

I moved it back to the 135g since it couldn't quite find a good spot in this tank and kept wandering. It is pretty big now, ~5" across but took on a standard RBTA coloration.

So is there a filter or anything on this tank or just the power head to circulate the water? Also could you grow sea weeds and macro algae and other marine plants or is this only good for soft corals? Interested in doing a mangrove/seashore tank with those green and red plants and tentacle like soft corals I’ve seen on KZbin and Instagram

Do you think the Xenia pulse more when they have a much more stronger light?
@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
"supposedly" Xenia pulses to help move water through it's tentacles to help capture/absorb nutrients from the water. So folks are guessing the lower the flow, the more the Xenia pulses in order to move the water. But it is all speculation.. I did notice that the stronger the light, the lighter the Xenia appears. Have not noticed too much difference in terms of pulse rate so far. I will pay more attention and see if I could spot a trend in my tank!

@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
Not at home at the moment but if my memory serves, it’s Reef Crest mode ~70% 10am - 5pm, Lagoon mode ~50% 5pm - 10am; basically just more gentle flow at night to let the fish & corals rest.
