3 iRacers Compete for a Real World Seat at Skip Barber

The Skip Barber Formula Race Series will have a new name on the grid for the 2025 season. In another successful case of iRacing-to-reality, thanks to the Skip Barber Racing School and the 2024 Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series, Ivan Machado Perez from Spain has won a ride in a real-world open-wheel racing seat next year.
Machado competed against two other finalists from the Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series-Brazil’s Victor Miranda and the United States’ Matt Bussa. The trio recently took part in the 3-Day Skip Barber Racing School program at VIRginia International Raceway.
During the program, the finalists competed both on and off the track, lapping in the Skip Barber Racing School fleet of Mygale Formula 4 race cars while also working on their marketability, media skills, and other non-racing aspects of being a racecar driver.

@11:25 the instructor gave some of the greatest wisdom available to any racer anywhere. recon laps are a fundamental necessity for any driver to warm up. 3/4 speed running the apexes perfectly and not slipping any tire while warming up. what a great video. well done!

And this is why iRacing is still at the top of the sim racing world. Majority of the other "sim to real life" competitions were majority invitation based, where this legit anyone could qualify for and it's a realistic starting point (not just "congrats here's a GT3 seat") for a potential career.
