I agree first thing in the morning helps. It's nearly impossible to catch up later in the day.

I write down my "to do's" on index cards every day, and I put them where I will see them often. This includes my goals. Thank you, Adam, for all your good advice.

I think there are a few requirements to meeting a resolution goal. One that you mentioned is consistency. I have heard people say "I'll start tomorrow" but tomorrow never comes. Or I can skip a day or two which turns into a week or two, etc. But even more importantly (for me at least) is making the goal achievable. What I mean by that is choose steps along the way that can be achieved realistically. If you want to lose 20 lbs then concentrate on losing 5 lbs first. Then the next 5 and so on.

Love your sense of humor, Dr Story. I actually started my " resolutions " in November. I cut out sugar. Too many delicious vegan treats( cookies, cupcakes, etc) Dropped 15 pounds . Now, I am very active yet was sabotaging my health with sugar. I do try to get the cardio down early but if I don't, I'm on my spin bike or treadmill in the evening. I do journal and this inspires me. Meditation first thing in the morning makes me happy. Thank you for your positive outlook , realistic info and for making us smile. Seeing my holistic Chiro in a few days and my DOM. I try to schedule those same day but it's not easy. Everyone is booked and busy( which is good!) 😊

I make a daily list. Starting with getting dressed and groomed, and so on. Check off stuff as you go , then even little steps help you to feel like you’re getting someplace. The more you check off the list the more you want to do. Makes it easier to face the harder things and you feel a sense of accomplishment. Takes the fear away too!

I make lists too - crossing things off one at a time really does help stress. I workout at 5:30 in the morning because life gets in the way otherwise. Some days I hate the thought of getting out of my warm bed, but I think instead of how good I always feel after I do the exercise.
