Depends on your State. Call a local nursing home and speak with their Administrator. They will be able to provide your state guidelines

What do you mean by spending down in a department? I've heard of Medicaid spend-down, never departmental spend-down.

Each department has a budget. Nursing, food service, ect. Controlling costs by using spend-downs is the key

There's not much to determine. They mostly are looking at your poise and your ability to learn their systems. Most RDOs have a hands off approach and if you need help ask.

Why fear the State? If you are ethical ,it's no big deal . This is why I got out of health care , it's about money period. They couldn't care less about the actual residents lives! What A disgrace!
