What is YOUR favorite question to ask at the end of an interview?

I have an interview coming up and have watched your video to get some good advice for the interview. Thanks for this incredible video! My favorite question is 'What do you want the person in this position to accomplish in the first few weeks or months?'

@@missgiggles9871 Thank you for watching! I agree, I think this is a great question to ask because it gives you a clear idea of what they are expecting you to achieve in the first 30, 60, 90, or even 365 days on the job!

I like to ask (after all the technical stuff) "what attracted you to this company?" Or "what are some of your hobbies etc". My goal is to see whether they have the kind of work life balance I'm hoping to have and see if the things that attracted them to the company are still true now that they're in the role.

I Got The Job!!! I watched this video the night before my final interview. I did ask "is there anything that is causing you hesitation about my fit for this position?" during the interview and the Sr. Manager was so surprised that I requested instant feedback. They bascially acknowledged my skillset and wilingness to grow and confirmed that they had the confidence in my fit for the role. I received the offer few days later! Thanks you so much!!!

Thank you SO much for sharing these tips! I asked a HESITATION question during my interview and the hiring manager shared how brave and bold she thought it was to ask for feedback during an interview. It also kept me from doing what I have always done in the past after an interview, walking away wondering, "What did they think?" I left the interview knowing exactly what they thought AND I was able to craft my thank you message addressing the hesitations. It proved to be effective because I GOT THE JOB!!! Thank you!

I got the job! Thank you so much. The interviewer decided to end my interview in just 15 minutes as I failed to answer one of the technical questions. When they asked if I had any questions, I asked the first question, "what do you love about your job?". They were surprised and said no one asked them this before. They excitedly answered my question and I tried to blend in and give my own opinions and voila!! The interview was dragged for 1 hour and I got the job!! So please ask these questions and always be energetic and motivated. I'm wishing the best of luck to everyone out there. ❤Thank you so much to you. You did a great job. May God bless you always.

I don't love the hesitation question at the end. As someone who's been the one interviewing before, we're told we can't give any indication one way or the other as to what we think about the candidate we're interviewing. This puts HR in a really bad mood if the candidate doesn't end up getting the job and were told they stood out in the inrterview process. As a person who's also been interviewed, I just accept that if a company doesn't want to hire me, it's their loss and I gave it my best shot. I no longer go into interviews feeling desperate for the job even if I am. If you're too eager, it's a turn off as well because we all know interviews don't always weed out bad employees/employers and can be pretentious. Smile, be professional, be truthful and transparent, and I have found that most interviewers appreciate not having to dance around to make a decision on whether they like you or not. Also keep in mind that YOU are also interviewing them. I don't hide the fact that I'm also looking to see if the employer is a good fit for me.

I had few interviews last week and this week with different companies. I asked them cultural, role-specific and hesitation questions but I still got rejected. But I will ask the questions you mentioned in the video. Nevertheless, I was looking for the questions in the comments, here's for anyone that's doing the same. Questions to ask the interviewers: (that's mentioned in the video) Cultural based: What is your favorite part about working here in this organization Do you love most about your job? What makes people stay with this organization? What are the biggest challenges or opportunities that this organization or department is facing in the next 6 months to a year How would you describe the work environment here? Role-specific: Can you tell me about a typical day or week looks like in this position? What do you want the person this in position to accomplish in their first 30,60 and 90 days ? What challenges or opportunities do you foresee this position taking on in the next 6 months ? How will my performance will be measured in this position? What are the next steps in the interview process? Hesitation: Based on what we talked about today is there anything that is causing you any hesitation about my fit for this position? How do I compare to other candidate that you interview for this role? Do you have any hesitations about my qualifications? Is there anything I can clarify for you? Have I answered all of the questions that you have for me ?

This is definitely helpful. I remember many years ago when I was interviewing, I was about to leave after asking a few simple questions, but then I turned around and asked the man, *"What do you NEED from your associate that the last person in this position didn't give you?"* That stopped him dead in his tracks. I remember he looked shocked and then said no one had ever asked him a question like that before. He then taught me two things with his answer that I never forgot. *1)* Most important are *the three A's: Amiability, Availability, Ability.* He said being a nice person to be around, and Actually Being There (not taking off all the time) was more crucial to him than the skill level. *2)* He said, *"I would rather you ask 100 questions up front than to wait and say you didn't understand the case or project."* Be proactive and make sure you know what is expected of you up front (which is why this brilliant video just taught us!!! 🤗), rather than make excuses later.

@@naty1012 Not 100% - most of these questions (minus the "hard/hesitation" questions) are truly to get to know the role and the organization (including the people interviewing you) better. They demonstrate interest and enthusiasm in a potential role/organization, which is important. The hard/hesitation questions require a little more courage, bravery, and risk, but they tend to have big payoffs because the interviewers are impressed with people's willingness (and courage) to request feedback in real-time!

I just got my job offer this afternoon after consulting this video a few weeks ago during the interview process. One bonus question you could ask during your interview that might not apply to all jobs, but in my interview ended up being a great jumping off point to discuss in depth the future of the business. I basically asked: “this may be a silly question, but what potential role if any do you foresee AI (artificial intelligence) playing for the company over the next 10+ years?” It turns out it was NOT a silly question, and 3 of the hiring managers present at the interview had thoughts, and it was actually something they have given a ton of thought to. Which made me feel like it was a bit of a “flex” since they probably don’t get that question on most interviews, and it ended up with them doing a lot of talking and building great rapport. Thanks again! Great video.

Update: I watched your video the day before my interview & incorporated your questions into my interview. 100% the BEST and most effective question I asked was “Based on what we talked about today, what are your concerns about me being a good fit for this role?” This was great because he told me there wasn’t any and I got the job on the spot! That question reduced so much anxiety cause I didn’t just end the interview & have to sit in limbo for days on end wondering if it went well (tbh I don’t really have the experience for the job, so I do think my answers as well as the ending interview questions helped a lot!). Anyways thank you so much for the amazing tips!

As someone who has conducted a couple hundred interviews, these questions are great! I especially like the culture set because it's always good to get the interviewer feeling those warm fuzzies. Getting them talking about what they love about their team or the company will help them leave the interview feeling good about you.

There is no worse feeling than going for a job you need but dont want (call centre, warehouse worker, etc...) and having to put up with the interview "tell us about a time you xyz... whatre your weaknesses? Do you have any questions for us?" like, ditch the mindgames; give me the job!

The "tell me about a time" questions make me want to get up and leave. Not being on heroin or in and out of jail should be enough to alleviate concerns. Thank you for sharing this list. I think the first two categories-Cultural Base Questions and Role Specific Questions-are excellent for showcasing genuine curiosity and professionalism during an interview. They highlight the candidate’s interest in the organization and the role, which is always a positive impression. However, I do have some feedback on the Hesitation Questions: 1. The first three questions, while well-intentioned, may come across as insecure or overly eager. As a hiring manager, we’re often unable to discuss other candidates or explain why we haven’t made a decision yet-it’s a matter of professionalism and confidentiality. 2. Asking why you’re not being hired immediately (even if worded more subtly) can feel pushy and undermine the confidence you’ve built during the interview. As a hiring manager for 15 years, I would rather hear these questions. 1. What qualities or traits have made others successful in this role at your organization? • This focuses on positive attributes, showing you’re thinking about long-term success in the position. 2. What does growth or advancement look like for someone in this position over the next year or two? • A forward-thinking question that demonstrates ambition without pressuring the hiring manager for immediate feedback. 3. Can you share any insights about the team I’d be working with or collaborating with in this role? • This shifts the focus away from insecurities about the hiring process and onto building rapport with the team, which is key to understanding the role’s dynamics. 4. What excites you most about the future of this organization? • A more big-picture question that can help candidates connect their goals to the company’s vision, leaving a confident and optimistic impression. 5. What do you think would be the most important focus for the first 30, 60, or 90 days in this role? • While it’s similar to a question in the “Role Specific” section, it reframes the conversation around delivering value early, which hiring managers appreciate.

Including that this job was an answered prayer for 5 years, I had to definitely work on my part. The interview was very stress free with a cozy ambience. Of course confidence was my ally and weapon. They fell in love and I was hired. Those questions for management are imperative. They knew I was well prepared and stated: "We know you have questions for us so go ahead, we are ready to answer." I remember applying for an airline company and got to third and final round. I think I messed up with the question about whether I had a disagreement with a coworker. I think honesty is not the best policy 😅. Well one of their questions was how many planes they've got. I didn't do any research on that so I just guessed. And at the end of the interview, I couldn't remember what questions I asked them, however, one question that I asked still stuck to this day. I asked them how many planes they have and they all laughed and just said I'll leave that for you to search it up 😂😂😂. Pretty sure they didn't know either. I always try to tell myself I didn't get the job because of that question, but I think it was more the behavioral question about a disagreement with a worker that might have failed me in my interview. 😅

I watch a lot of KZbin videos for personal development but rarely ever leave comments. Not this time. I literally found your video minutes before my virtual interview for a behavioral health case manager. I'm stating the position so people can be encouraged that these questions should and probably will work for almost any job. Anyway, I wrote down the questions on 3 note cards and had them close by during the interview. Two managers interviewed me for 60 minutes. I asked two questions from the first two categories. I was tempted but resisted the urge to ask anything from the 3rd category. 😂. I felt confident but not that confident. As another commenter said, you must feel out the interview and go with your gut. Regardless of the outcome, your questions helped me come across as more professional and engaged. I'm sharing your video with everyone I know who's job hunting. Thank you again.

I feel pretty confident about my interview skills, but I wanted to hear about asking questions at the end. By the end of my interview, they had a closing that answered my main questions, so when they asked if I had questions, I restated their information that I had learned about orientation times, training, and advancement opportunities. I decided to go for the hesitation question and it went well! I learned how many others were interviewing for the position and where I stood. It was very helpful and I feel like I have a great chance! I'll know in a week!! Thanks!!

I personally don't understand why I need to ask more questions after I have asked a million questions already. But I do really like that last example question that you gave. It is perfect for wrapping up the interview and it is a question that would be out of place except at the end of an interview. Thanks, I will never have to worry about not having a question at the end of an interview.

I watched this video and a few more of yours a few hours before my interview for a job i REALLY wanted. I asked the interviewers what they liked about working for the company, if they thought that i woukd struggle with anything based on how i answered their behavioral questions, and i just had a statement for the last one because i wasnt comfortable asking the hesitancy question. That statement was : "if this jobmis open to anyone, id like to have it. I enjoyed our conversation and it was my pleasure meeting with you today. Ty for the opportunity" and the next day i got a call with the job offer! Wish i had found you a lot sooner. ❤

Hi Abby, Thanks for your video. I attended my interview yesterday for a nursery TA role and asked three questions of each type at the end of the interview. Actually, I like the third type the most. I asked them if there is any hesitation about my fit for this role. They told me the truth that I don't have enough working experience with Children. I replied to them that I had a child and I hold a lot of play dates every weekends and I have passion about education. Why do I like this question the most? Because you have you last chance to sell yourself and persuade them to give you the chance. I haven't received the result and they told me they will interview other people so it will take around one week. Thank you.

I searched but didn't see anyone ask..... after asking the hesitation question- if they give you a reason why they are hesitating, for example maybe they say "the only thing I may be concerned about is your lack of experience in this specific role".... are you then supposed to explain why that won't be a problem? Or should you just receive the feedback. My instinct would be to say something like, "What I lack in experience I make up for in determination and grit!", but I don't want to sound like I am arguing...... Thank you for the helpful videos!

Hi -- career coach, here! 👋 My advice is to not "rebut" the interviewer immediately, but instead respond with another question -- one that is action-orientated. So, to use your example from above, one possible answer might be, "are there any particular duties that you're concerned about my lack of experience in this industry being a problem? I'd love to get specific and see if I can provide any additional context or clarity for you". The secret is: it's not really about 'remedying' any hesitation ... it's about sharing in it. If they say something like, "yes, the inventory management system we use is complex and prone to human error" you could then come back with "gotcha, yeah, I could see how that might make you nervous. Well, I can't speak to that particular system, but I can say generally that I'm a quick study when it comes to digital interfaces and generally have a 'measure twice, cut once' approach to things. (Let's hope you're quick on your feet in that moment, but I think you get the gist).

I'm happy to share with everyone that I got the job today and the question I asked to the hiring manager is "how would you describe the work environment here" then he answered me nonstop and literally went beyond 11-12 minutes time of the interview 😅 I am so nervous and excited, mixed feelings about my first job here in USA. Thank you so much and God bless us all 🫶🏼 Orientation will be tomorrow, Yay! 😊

When I interviewed yrs ago, I asked these types of questions and it would impress them, but it wasnt the "qualifier," if someone is more experienced/gifted in the role, they will beat you. But these are amazing questions that you should ask!!! As the interviewer now, I only ask the interviewee to tell me about their personality type, attachement type, work ethic, creative outlets, and desired work culture. Then I pair that will the results of their assessment test. Whoever is the most qualified per experience and personality/culture type gets the job from me.

Hi I watched this a day before my interview and it was so helpful. I asked all the types of questions and after the 2nd question the interviewer stopped sat back and said wow what amazing questions… oh dear I think I’m being interviewed her and broke the ice in the room. She also said I like it😄 On the hesitation question she said wow… FairPlay to you for asking this… I’m impressed 😂 I initially felt silly and cheeky honestly asking do you have any hesitation hiring me and I was very shocked with her response😄. Very positive and made me feel confident. Will here next week if I get the post. Thank you for these as they genuinely helped me with lots of tips. I was always one who never knew what to ask at the end… but never again.🤞🏼

I am very satisfied with all the technical ways that you give to ask questions at the end of a Job interview. I would also love that you give us the most important questions that is already been asked in a Travel Assistant interview ( a travel arranger in an organization for people who go to an R&R or official trip).

Yes they do!! I always make sure to have 4-5 questions prepared especially for panel interviews and have received 3 offers. People love to talk about themselves! One question I like to ask is, what is it about your job do you love so much? Or what makes you passionate about this company and your job? Their responses and expressions are priceless!

Hello! Your hesitation question nailed it! I used the advice in this (and other of your videos), prepared like HELL for the interview, and got the job offer!!!! Thank you!! Another piece of advice id offer is to STUDY the organization, the role , and departmental projects like crazy prior to the interview and comment on a takeaway from something you learned about the org, during the interview. That will impress the hiring manager. 😎

Hi there,sorry silly question here: how did you feel when you asked them this question? I have an interview next week and I got slowly nervous about it 😂 I feel like sliding in this question makes me vulnerable and at the same time I might make them feel very awkward? Maybe it’s just me have no idea. 😅 thanks
@LifeWorkBalance
@LifeWorkBalance 2 жыл бұрын
@@ioanamirea168 I'll see if @WiseOwlets can reply too - but this question CERTAINLY will put you in a vulnerable place and is scary to ask! It could make them feel awkward, however, I've found that if they are conflict avoidant/feel awkward with this question they will gloss over it. Other interviewers will be HIGHLY impressed by this question and it will give you "bonus" points! If you have the courage to ask this question, it will likely pay off more than it could hurt you. Good luck!!

I think the "hestation" is a double edged sword, because if they did not have any before, they are think about it now. I use to ask for "any feedback or concerns," and sometimes they would tell me & I could address the concern, but it could be mistaken for arguing or not accepting feedback. One interviewer even refereed to the question as being "very forward".

This is a really, really good interview with solid recommendations for questions we should ask in an interview. I just re-watched it and took some notes. My favorite is to ask the hiring manager if they have any reservations/ hesitations about my candidacy. I'd rather know and address it.
