Through your comments I learned about Cystic Fibrosis, which can cause persistent coughing with mucus. And just the other day I learned about Misophonia, a condition where people are sensitive to sounds (including coughing) and triggers strong emotions, thoughts and physical reactions. Both are said to have “fewer than 200,000 U.S. cases per year” and can last for years or be lifelong. Not sure about the statistics in Korea, but that’s besides the point. We live in a world with diverse people. Each of us have our own stories and reasons. We may also have conditions or personality traits that make it challenging to get along with some people. As we may not be able to change ourselves completely (even if we wanted to) nor be able to please every single human being on earth, it is essential to practice patience and tolerance as much as possible. Of course, it is always easier said than done. But it’s worth the effort I think 😉 We may never know why the young man in this video was coughing. As our fellow viewers mentioned in the comment section, he may have bronchitis, cystic fibrosis or asthma. Or perhaps the loud coughing may be due to air quality, cigarette smoking, etc. Whatever the cause, I hope he is feeling better now and I also will try to be more patient and understanding when other diners are persistently coughing in restaurants. As someone who is sensitive to sound, I was very triggered when the man coughed loudly many times into the air without covering his mouth. It was a small shop and diners sat near one another. Maybe he had a flu and was contagious. We don’t know. With that said, you cannot change other people’s actions. The best we can do is change our own actions and retrain our default reactions to live more harmoniously with others. We won’t always be perfect, but we can always strive to become a better and more loving version of ourselves. Thank you for reading my long comment and wishing everyone a harmonious week ahead ❤️

Sometimes I wish we had better manners here in the US. I have had people cough sitting in the train seat behind me, not bothering to cover their mouths so I get sprayed with their spittle and bad breath. It's so enraging. If you say something, they would just defend themselves. It's never their fault. Especially in NYC. I'm so glad I no longer work in NYC. I now live in the South where people aren't quite as rude.

Yes, people who constantly clear they throat as loud as possible who don’t bother trying to muffle it are also super annoying. And I reiterate - people who don’t bother trying to muffle it. Love your vids! This is especially helpful since I’ll be in Busan for a couple of days in the future!

While I understand some people cough due to health reasons, there are different manners between covering the mouth & coughing versus coughing loudly out into the air when there are people eating nearby. Anyhow, hope you have an amazing time in Busan! Be sure to try Ajusshi Ssiat Hotteok at BIFF Square. There are several hotteok stalls, but so far theirs is the best I've ever had in Korea ❤️

Listen, I love your channel. I experienced the same thing at the Gym with a young lady coughing and it sounded unpleasant as though she had a build up of mucus. Well, come to find out, she had an immune disease that effected her lungs and she constantly had an un controllable urge to clear her lungs. My point is, you never know what someone is experiencing with their health or otherwise. I’m not saying he has a health issue but sometimes we as humans are so quick to judge without knowing the reason behind it. 🤷🏽♀️✊🏾
@sweetandtastyTV5 жыл бұрын
It's true that we don't know everyone's reason or story. Though table manners differ around the world. Definitely hear more mucus hacking & public spitting in some countries while it's super quiet in others. Might also be due to pollution, influence, cigarette smoking, and other conditions. There are also people with sensitivities to sounds (ie: Misophonia). At the end of the day, we all have our reasons and personalities. Everyone's tolerance for certain things vary, so have to practice patience with every situation to the best of our ability.

Oh my god. I never know that can be caused by immune diseases which affect the lungs... I always have the urge to cough (for 10 or more years) that's why I have so many troubles singing a whole song or even in class I was known for 'the girl who always coughs before reading a text in front of the class'. Everyone saying maybe he's sick and don't be so quick to judge. If you're sick, why go to a public place (with food, no less) and cough openly in to the air? That's not cool. If he has something like cystic fibrosis, that's another thing altogether but that's not very likely tbh. I would have reacted the same way Mina did because I was raised to be polite, give up my seat on a train for someone in need, help the elderly if they need it, be respectful to my elders, respect other people and not invade their space or make a lot of noise in public, cover my mouth when I sneeze or cough etc and if I'm really sick stay home and get better. So for me, someone doing that around food and in public is highly triggering 🤷♂️

Yashiba What you say is true. I experience it my self. I have cystic fibrosis all my life and personally can’t control when I will have a coughing fit. And when I do I don’t belive that an explanation will really make people understand so I do try to apologize every time. And I am young so a lot of people are taken aback with it. Which is understandable and all I do wish people would understand more but it’s harder to change millions of people than changing how I respond and apologize constantly 😅😅

sweetandtastyTV Unfortunately CF is a life-limiting, fatal disease. People can get a lung transplant, but then have to take anti-rejection medication for the rest of their lives. New lungs may fail due to rejection even with medication. On the flip side he could have something serious like tuberculosis, or minor like a cold cold... and they are both contagious, so yes you have the right to be annoyed he didn’t cover his mouth. It’s hard to not be bothered by it in any case, but I’m glad that you learned a little something from this situation. It’s tough, I’m a nurse who has done clinical research in TB and yes I’ve been exposed to it a number of times before I knew the patient had it. I get tested and know that it’s not likely I’d catch it as I’m healthy and keep up on my immunizations. Love your videos, and Mommy Oh! Love from Canada 🇨🇦!
