You would get a lot of views for a full tear down of a commercial FPSE, measuring everything. No such videos exist, no documents, nothing. The information you could extract from this machine would be so valuable.

I agree regarding the value of a full teardown. I've been delaying until after I can at least see if it can still be pressurized, if it can still run, what the power output is. etc. A teardown without some proper rebuilding supplies, gaskets seals replacement parts or whatever it might need could render the engine permanently unusable. It would help to have some specifications. Anyway I want to at least try and see if it can run first.

a teardown wouldn't necessarily give you all needed info. alloys used might be chosen for CTE. surface finished and methods would be needed as well as tolerances. what lubricants used? etc much differend from hobby level

@FrankensteinDIYkayak yes I agree, after looking deeper there is much that wouldn't be revealed except various dimensions. Going over the infinia patents reveals a lot of information about material selection for this exact engine as well as the heater head design which is a lot more underneath than a basic plate that it looks like.

Hi there any joy with getting it put back together ?

I only have the engine itself and some brackets. No solar dish. The engine has not ever been taken apart afaik. I may just fill it with helium and see if it can light some light bulbs using a kerosene heater. The disk is just an external balancer to reduce vibration. Not really part of the engine.

Pression ?

Compressed helium I believe. Though I think by now it may require recharging.

Unfortunately only a few of these engines were ever produced around 2010 as test/demonstration models. Most of those were destroyed, sold as "scrap". I don't know the full history of this engine but it was probably a test model sent to a University somewhere in or near Denver Colorado before being sold on eBay a few years ago. These engines are very hard, if not impossible to find. I don't know if any more exist or if this one could still run after more than 12 years. I was very fortunate to locate this one. As far as I know, there are none for sale and I don't think any were ever marketed. The company that produced these engines (Infinia apparently, though there are no markings or insignia on the engine) went bankrupt

@@peoplesresearchcenter6184 Hi there, I think I saw these prototype engines on eBay few years ago with lots of test documents. There was a pretty good, but too high cost for my pocket (of course) but this FPSE technology is one of my favorite all of the time. Do not test it without fully charged pressure tank because of the gas bearing and bponce volumes are so senditive to it. Minimum charge is around 30bar Helium I think, maybe more. Thanks to share it!
