I hope you could see more than the camera could on that last landing. But through all of them, excellent skill levels. Thanks for sharing Stefan 👍 Safe & happy flying 😊

I am amazed at how massive the landing areas are in Europe! I just started soaring again this year in Sugarbush Vermont. It is short,small, hump in the middle, surrounded by trees and rising terrain. If there is a crosswind too bad, you have to deal with it!
@ColinWatters3 жыл бұрын
We had the traditional three runways where I used to fly. If you couldn't make one of those there was grass in the middle and around the outside all landable.

Seriously I don't think those winds were strong enough to give anyone heart failure and they were definitely not much of a cross wind, But for the average sail plane pilot, they could be a challenge, If those winds were strong enough as a cross wind, one would have had to put one wing down considerably or tack extreme into wind, while lining up on the run way, and then you would have had to been going extremely slow to allow a quick turn into wind jus before roll out, so the wing does not hit the ground, and pray you had enough cross grass to land safely, with little to no roll. because of the extra long wing span from gliders, Sorry for the disappointing comment, but I do recall my flying years when I was just a few feet above ground side slipping in at a tremendous angle, being able to roll out and stop within a 100 feet of roll. A good practice always so if one has to make any emergency landing, they can do it into someone's back yard.
