Laryngeal movement in singing is necessary and beneficial. Contemporary singers will often use high larynx positions for brighter and lighter vocal qualities. Classical singers frequently use low larynx positions for darker and richer vocal qualities. And the neutral larynx position is foundational in all styles of singing because it helps us to achieve our most natural, unaffected sound.
In this video, vocal coach Kurt Wolf demonstrates how to achieve subtle changes in larynx position which can offer both technical and stylistic advantages.
Be sure to check out our other tutorial videos in this series which cover singing with a neutral, a high, and low larynx condition
