I’m LDS and I love my fellow Christians of other faiths. Thank you for speaking in our defense and the right of all Christians to be able to worship our Savior. Joy, I live in Utah and have been following this story. Saint George PD arrested Benjamin James Johnson after getting called about the fires. Johnson was seen running out of one of the smoking chapels and after leading them on a chase, fought with them when arrested. He referred to himself as "Joshua" and a "diety", and said he had acted out of "righteous anger". The creepy part is he was spewing some of the same rhetoric that some of these posters are apparently fond of. Yikes.

After reading gobs of defenders' valiant comments, I realized he is the type of person that's itching for a fight more than he is the truth, and has to always get the last word in. I guess in his mind that makes him the winner. Years ago I went on an LDS mission, and learned that heated religious arguments (we called them Bible bashes) get nowhere, and in the end usually cause hard feelings. That's why I said in one of my comments that I believe religion is a tricky subject, because no one can actually "prove" anything. It seems to me that sometimes religion keeps good people aimed in a good direction, and sometimes religion drives men mad.

Ya,and I think this is only going to increase with LDS meeting houses,as well as meeting houses of other Christian religions. I see some evangelicals on here just bashing the LDS church for a mere difference in theological beliefs,and they call themselves Christians,and we should condemn that as well. And Dave is right,if someone's response to hatred against ANY church is to try and burn it down,they are not going about things the right way. This man,whoever he was,just affected his own life,and the life of his family and even friends for life. It reminds me of a good song by the alternative band Veridia. In their song Disconnected,a few of the lines in the song say this-disconnected,so far away,ammunition,words we say;I know we can turn it around,we should be burning bridges instead of burning them down. So in other words the message of the song is whatever words that we use,to use them wisely,and not be divisive. But rather build bridges instead of trying tear them down. I hope that these churches are repaired soon and people can get back to worshipping soon.

As an Evangelical I condemn the burning of you're buildings. But you're the ones claiming all other Christians are in Apostate churches: that isn't Christian either! When you stop sending missionaries to other Christians and trying to pull them out of their churches to join yours. Then Evangelicals will stop criticizing you're churches counterfeit doctrines. No, chance at either of those two things happening!
@samuelpike12483 жыл бұрын
@@davidjanbaz7728 Wow,such sharp words here. We've NEVER days all other Christians are bad,I personally don't. Why do you think there's so many churches today? And I wonder if you condemn what the Roman Catholic church has done to other Christians over the centuries,and a church who aided the Nazi's during World War 2. But that's a discussion for another day. What I also find interesting is than you condemn the burning of LDS churches. Then at the same time,it's almost like you're saying they brought this upon themselves. We as Christians need to get over our silly,petty differences,and instead, find common ground one the issues of the day. Feel free to disagree with me all you want. That's your choice. It's also my choice to disagree with you. We can't accomplish anything as believers when we're constantly at each other's throats. Enough of this divisiveness. Just because I may not believe the same as you do doesn't mean I'm wrong either. I guarantee if you talked to me for even 10-15 minutes,you would learn a great deal about who I am and what I stand for. I condemn any church burning as well. Like I've already stated. How about as believers we come together,instead of being so divisive? This goes for anyone. You don't have to like me,but you will respect me.
@sheilaedmond14983 жыл бұрын
@@davidjanbaz7728 Hey brother, I admire your conviction! Let's both use our conviction to come together in unity in our belief that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. The world needs this message. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints go out and share our beliefs because we love Jesus and we love our fellow human beings. We believe we have found truth, and that God is the author of all truth. Jesus Christ himself has commanded His followers to share testimony of His word, His truth, and His divine mission as the Savior and Redeemer of the world. So you're right, we aren't going to stop sending missionaries out. 🙂 As far as churches being apostate, do you agree that with so many Christian churches teaching conflicting doctrines, they can't all be correct? Truth never contradicts itself. It's a beautiful thing. Apostate doesn't mean evil. It simply means a deviation from truth. So the challenge for you and me is to bring the conflicting doctrines to the Lord and ask Him which is true. The Holy Spirit makes known the truth of all things, so when we ask God in faith, with real intent (James 1:5), we can know what is true and what is counterfeit doctrine (to use your phrase). Jesus has commanded us to come together in the unity of the faith. Ephesians 4:3-5 says there is "one Lord, one faith, and one baptism." The only way for this to be, was for there to be a restoration of all things. Just because the word on the street (or KZbin, or social media) says that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has counterfeit doctrine, doesn't make it so! 😉 People who leave other churches to join our church have done so because they have found out for themselves, through the Holy Spirit, that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored (i.e. there has been a "restoration of all things" Acts 3:19-21). There is nothing more Christian than seeking God's truth. And God always makes truth known to honest seekers. God bless! 🙏

No I get it, it's nuts. And I'm LDS and am just as upset when I see things like this happen. But I'm not sure why he is saying he "disagrees" with anything. Was someone striking up a debate by burning a building? Lol just say your scared and pissed off. It's scary. The fact that some idiot out there is targeting LDS churches makes many of us latter day saints feel a bit in danger. And it's angering because it's a sacred place. When evil strikes like this, it's not a politic statement or anything, it's pure violence and insanity and what I have learned about evil is that there is no motivation behind it that actually makes sense. It's chaos, like the joker on Batman. No rhyme or reason, and if there is no rhyme or reason then what is there to "disagree" with when it's beyond normal conversation? It's not like you can win a debate against crazy, not that anyone is trying to, but it goes to show that whatever happened in that man's heart when he burned the buildings is nothing that any amount of disagreeing with is going to fix. That's Jesus' job. I just wanted to point that out. And so why get angry? It's not like an official statement by the whole state of Missouri, it's one angry dude who needs Jesus. Feel sad for him and pray for him. Isn't that what the Amish did when their children were murdered in their classroom? They prayed with the parents of the killer. Here you've got one slap on the wrist in comparison to something like THAT, and here the Mormons(ok ok I know LDS..) here we are pissed off and scared and masking the fear and indignation with a bunch of eloquent speeches gaining people on a pretended 'side' instead of seeing it for what it is and praying for our own peace and that of the idiot who did it.

Frustration with the LDS Church; you mean Non-Members! All religions have different theology, that's what makes them unique. The LDS Church & the Mormon Doctrine isn't going anywhere, so to burn a church because of what; does what; It is rhetorical folks, no answer needed! This is what is very dumbfounding; I find people whom move into the State suddenly find it difficult living under the Church persuasion, making it unrealistic for anyone to want to move here if there is such disdain with the doctrine. It isn't forced upon anyone, but the beauty of Utah being a stand alone State, which differs from all others, is due to the presence of the LDS faith. So instead of people accepting Utah for all its glory, people want to change the reality that exists, & somehow they find issue with it. Makes no sense, when there are how many other States to choose from without such a prominent "Church" influence; just saying! 😕 It is sad though to see humanity, God's creation, stoop so low because of differences not being able to accept, even though disagreed upon. Makes no sense to the intellectual mind. It changes nothing for the people of Faith.

This is sad, but it is fulfillment of ancient and modern prophecy. The Saints (not just LDS, all those who have chosen to love and follow our Savior Jesus Christ) will be persecuted in the Last Days. Thank you for such generosity toward those of us in the LDS faith in posting this video. I appreciate it and I know many others will too. I can’t imagine who would want to destroy anyone’s place of worship here in America 🇺🇸 Thank you for speaking out on our behalf

When there was a rash of black church burnings in 1996 members of many denominations got together with black churches and scheduled night watches with shotguns. A pastor I met who graduated Morehouse even needed some help, not having quite enough men to cover seven nights a week. The duty gets old fast, but the burnings did stop. I hope and pray there are no more burnings in St. George, but you got to do what you got to do when the chips are down.

I'm not LDS but come on. This is not cool. We need to stand together and patrol these churches. The police can't be everywhere at once. Also don't their cameras pick up anything?

I first want to say thank you to your kind words and video. It is atrocious to me that people would go to that length to try to make a point or two obtain some level of what they would consider Getting even. Even for what? Thank you for pointing out the news about the church buildings and appreciate the staunch constitutional belief system that you are maintaining as to our right to worship how we Wishon how we may. Thank you again

HUH ? I don't care how one worships or believes or even not believe in anything . But when a religion is based on racism of Native-Americans that is crossing the LINE ! How the hell is open racism to us Indigenous people being "civil" y ? 2Nephi Book of Mormon and God put a mark of "dark skin" on us Native-Americans according to Mormonism !

Thank you, so very much!!! It means so much to hear other people , not of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day- Saints, defending terrible acts, on our buildings , faith, ect, believe me, had it happened to any other faith Church building , that had been hatefully destroyed, I myself and the people I know of my LDS community would be commenting, supportive, and uplifting comments to your Church community!!! Once Again , Thanks again , So Grateful for your support!! God Bless!!!

This is horrible but it is nothing compared to what could happen later on, Meeting houses don't have security guards, any mentally disturbed person can break in with a gun during sacrament meeting and start shooting. Yes things are gonna get worse cause persecutions are coming back. If Lds churches are not secured with a guard I prefer serve God at home and not put my family at risk.

It's surprising this happens in this day and age, especially in Utah of all places. There was also another chapel burned down in St. George a couple of years ago, which was across the street from the old temple.
