My favorite answer was to the question about homosexuals being told to be chaste. Some people would ask that question as an accusation of unequal treatment for different children of God. President Nelson's answer was great. Everybody is expected by God to be chaste. That has always been the case.
@sarabeara155 жыл бұрын
True. But you do recognize that the standards are different correct. Even innocent kisses are considered fine for heterosexuals but not homosexuals. And same-sex marriage can result in excommunication. So the standards are not the same, and that is what is frustrating to LGBTQ +, especially those within the Church.

The trinity? Christ praying to himself during the great interceding prayer of John 17? Praying for the apostles to "be one" just as he and the Father "are one"? Or Stephen, while being stoned, seeing two distinct persons in heaven? Or the baptism of Jesus, hearing the voice of the Father's approval? Or the mount of transfiguration? Or was Jesus crying out to himself when nailed upon the cross "why hast THOU forsaken me?" Listen, having faith in Christ is great. I am not here to mock your faith or belief. But I feel there are plenty of scriptures, even without modern-day testimony, that would support that the trinity is a false concept.

Joseph Smith, quoting John the Revelator, indicated this gift is so important that( every “man who has the testimony of Jesus,” is a prophet, “)(for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. -Revelation 29:l0th )verse” (TPJS, p. 119) In ancient times it was thought that only a few people could be prophets. In fact, they often declared that they wanted only a certain person to be a prophet for all the people. Joseph Smith said this was a wrong concept and declared: . . . the people should (each one stand for himself, )(and depend on no man or men)( in that state of corruption) of the Jewish church-that (righteous persons could only deliver their own souls)(-applied it to the present state of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-)said if the people departed from the Lord, (they must fall-that they were depending on the Prophet)(, hence were darkened in their minds, in consequence of neglecting the duties devolving upon themselves), . . . (TPJS, pp. 237-238) And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp. And [91] Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them. And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? Would God that all the Lord’s people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them! (Num. 11:25-29) I the Lord, knowing the calamity which should come upon the inhabitants of the earth, called upon my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and spake unto him from heaven, and gave him commandments; And also gave commandments to others, that they should proclaim these things unto the world; and all this that it might be fulfilled, which was written by the prophets- The weak things of the world shall come forth and break down the mighty and strong ones, that man should not counsel his fellow man, neither trust in the arm of flesh-But that every man might speak in the name of God the Lord, even the Savior of the world; . . . (D & C 1:17-20) Hence, every man who holds the Priesthood should have the gift and power of prophecy. Today we seldom, if ever, hear about the visitation and ministrations of angels. It is an evidence that they are probably “pained” with the doings of both Mormon and non-Mormon people. As a matter of doctrine it is written that the angels are about to come down upon the earth with destructions and pour vials of death upon mankind. Men who bear the Priesthood should be on a good standing with angels and have communication with them if they are to be saved from the pestilences that are to come No matter who believeth, these signs, such as healing the sick, casting out devils, etc., should follow all that believe, whether male or female. (TPJS, p. 224) [95] Many other gifts came with the restoration of the Priesthood, such as the gift of translation, seership, and written revelations. God freely gave them but gradually they have been disappearing. The Prophet explains why: Because faith is wanting, the fruits are. No man since the world was had faith without having something along with it. The ancients quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, women received their dead, etc. By faith the worlds were made A man who has none of the gifts has no faith; and he deceives himself, if he supposes he has. Faith has been wanting, not only among the heathen, but in professed Christendom also, so that tongues, healings, prophecy, and prophets and apostles, and all the gifts and blessings have been wanting. (TPJS, p. 270)

Today we know them as the Samaritans of the New Testament. Although the tribal system had been abolished with the deportation from 599 BCE to 583 BCE when the last Jews were deported to Babylon. Yet, Luke in the NT tries to authenticate the Messiahship by stating that Joseph and Mary travelled to Bethlehem to pay Roman taxes, which is historically false. However, it does allow the storyteller to place Mary giving birth to Jesus in the land of Judah. Everything about this event in Bethlehem is fabricated. My last comment before the final coup de grâce is that in 840 BCE 1st year of Queen Athaliah reign. She murdered all the royal heirs of David except the infant Joash aka Jehoash. (see 2 Kings 11:1-2). Finally, no Jew would live in the time stated outside his ancient homeland and live amongst foreigners. We know that the Samaritans had their Synagogues, and Jews would be welcomed, but a Jewish Synagogue would not welcome a samaritan, even today. The coup de grâce! 48 The Jews answered him [Jesus], “Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?”[John 8:48 NIV] Jesus was not eligible to be a Messiah let alone be a Jew according to Jewish Law!
