Actually, this is one of the most commonly used (and most efficient) ways to studying pieces of music. Reminds me of many years ago when my son was only a few years old constantly tugging at my leg asking questions and talking to me and me answering him while jamming with friends. They all used to ask me how I did it. Listening to him, and talking to him and in general paying attention to him all while playing and singing in between. Guess you just get REALLY good at multitasking as a musician/parent. Great video Mary. Great song and a sad loss of the performer of a such an iconic song.
@lofr89824 жыл бұрын
So, in this scenario, we are the kids and Mary is our Mom?
@timhess67204 жыл бұрын
@@lofr8982 Well, no, because that would just be weird to say I'm attracted to my mom. Haha. What I meant was watching her talk and explain the process while still playing. You can sometimes see the blank glossed over look in her eyes while she is multitasking and she is speaking slower than usual thinking what she wants to say next while still playing. Her mind appears to be near overload, but, she's doing and awesome job at it and I can relate. Mary is doing a great job! I know a few musicians who can teach, play, or sing, but, in no way can do any two of them at the same time. Just one at a time. My post was meant to be a complement to Mary.

hey mary glad to see you are safe & well .. this song was the first song I ever performed on a live stage .. Back in the mid 70's ina place Called Tigers Bay in Cardiff .. I used to help out a band as roadie & sound guy in a very rough Strip club where the only white folks were half the band & some of the strippers .. the regular gtr player was unavoidably detained at her majesties pleasur e one night & among others I was invited to sit in .. when it came time to play my solo I panicked & with my head down stomped on the fuzz & the wah pedal & just wailed my way thru a version of the songs melody .. I literally wanted the floor to open up & swallow me as the crowd could be unforgiving .. But to my relief when I looked up the floor was packed with people dancing . It was a band with congas & sax as well & we had to keep playing it for twice around .. I learned the most important lesson of my musical life that night .. Most people don't know if you are playing the right thing or not & altho the singer & sax player were furious the ' Brothers who made up the rest of the band .. thought it was hilarious & I got so many congratulations from the crowd .. Hey man I never heard that song like that before .. So my first ever time on a stage gave me a kind of confidence that has stayed with me ever since .. Just play what you hear in your head man .. lol Big love & stay safe from an old recluse who was in lockdown isolation anyway .. bye
